Wow...look at all these peeps with daddies. That's a beautiful thing. Appreciate it yall, cuz it truly is a blessing. My father has never been in the picture. He would send his lil measely checks, mainly cuz the courts ordered him to, not cuz he actually cared. Once i turned 18, and it wasn't required, it was a wrap! Brotha wasn't even thinkin about contributing towards my college education cuz he got excuse after excuse. What he know about a financial struggle? He isn't a single black momma funding a child's college fund on her own, a hospitalized husband with Lou Gherig's disease, and taking care of every bill known to man, while making an OK paycheck with the postal service. I used to see him every once in awhile, but now i'll be lucky if it's once year. Dude doesn't even know my birthday . Used to hold ALOT of animosity towards him. Right before i left for school he apologized for not being there for me, and i forgave him. Having all that contempt in my heart, does me more harm that it does him. Won't front tho, his absense still affects how i look at men in general, but God is workin on me with that one. I'm a work in progress
I agree almost verbatim except my mom remarried but it still isnt the same. My mommy is struggling trying to pay for my college education and my dad stop sending the child support check so fast when i turned 18. I try not to have hatred in my heart towards him but its so hard. He knows that my mom is struggling and he's living in luxury with his big house and cars. asshole

me and my pops is aight.... i'm just a female version of him so we clash alot! he yells most of the time when we talk cuz he thinks that i either have an attitude or not listenin. I'm glad and very blessed he's in my life but if we weren't the same then i think we would have a better father-daughter relationship!!!!

Yep. We have the same situation. Awww...yay...we're sistahs ! My mom remarried too (but since she's STILL doing everything on her own i will always refer to her as "a single workin mother"). My stepfather has been hospitalized for the past two years, and even when he was here, he might as well have been invisible. God is the best daddy i could ever have. At least he's there when i need him, and never leaves me nor forsakes me. That's more than i can say for my earthly father  . And HarlemHeat...MANY hugs for u....and MANY prayers. Me and Mila will be kneelin togetha on that one.

My dad and I are cool although mums and D are divorced. D was always there for me, from the moment by big head entered this world, to changing my stinky diapers. My D thinks-lol-he's a Mac daddy and luv them women, but always tells me to slow my roll and not end up like him, and how important college is for me. We reside 1121 miles away from each other, but technology allows me to speak and see him daily via our web cam. D respects my Mums and always looks out for my sister and me. He is my best friend, and I can talk to him about any and everything. BUT, my mums, she’ll ALWAYS be the #1 woman in my life til I get married—she still keeps D in check from 1121 miles away and his @sst listens as if they were stilll married—now Mum’s the real Mac daddy.. 8)
