have u noticed how some commercials can b so racist?
ex: the cingular commercial with the black dude playing basketball and he automatically makes the shot blindfolded and not even facing the basket.
WTF? so cuz he black, he got natural basketball talent? y couldnt it be a white dude? maybe im over-reacting, but wat are some other things that strike u as racist?
It's crazy I was just talking about this with my friend. Did anyone ever see that KFC commercial with the black men watching the game on the couch, and oh dude's woman came home and started to fuss him out about makin her mama cook them something to eat? But look behold! :o KFC is to the rescue :roll: but then when you see white families with KFC they around the table with their own spokes person :x !! GET IT TOGETHER KFC!! ....ok I'm cool. I promise :?
I do think that some of the commercials are racist. For instance with the basket ball commercial, well think about this; alot of black guys are good at basketball but so are some white people. Even though it may be true that we are good at somethings but that is not all we are good at we are intelligent too we can do other things. They should not make it like that is all black guys are good at. Also another thing I have noticed with tv series. Most series on regular TV are on white series. How come they don't have that many black serious series. I mean do they think that we can't be serious or be sensable. Blacks are always seen on comedy shows. I can think of some other things but I will get back to that later.
I'm sick of these Black TV shows that are afraid to show real Black women. They are always light with wavy hair (in other words mixed). Not to insult people who are mixed, but dag....can we get a fully Black woman on TV without it being a loud, big, Black woman whose sole purpose is to be funny and add some comedic relief? It's like they're sending us the message that we can only be beautiful or at least worthy of being put in a decent light on TV if we are somewhat Eurocentric. Even the "Black" women who are considered very beautiful in Holywood are either half white or attempt to be (ie. Halle Berry, Beyonce, etc.).
And don't get me started on the commercials. It's like these companies think the only way to get our attention is to throw in some tired rap or at least have a hip-hop-ish beat on their commercial :?

the sprite "I am Thirst" commerical wit the lil claymation dude who be runnin around trash-talkin, sittin on the stoop tryna holler at the whyt girls...

Is it just me or did you notice that alot of fast food commercials, ie. McDonald's and Burger King seem to try to pertain to black people. Like we already don't have bad eating habits and suffer from the highest rates of diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and heart disease. So sad.

Yes sometimes people do read too far into things, but if you just open your eyes, sometimes there is logical reasoning for that. I don't know about the other stuff you said, but as far as the fast food thing goes, I'm serious. They really do need to stop gearing them toward black people and if I didn't see one more black person in one of these commercials I (not speaking for all black folk) really wouldn't care because you'll never see me in any of those places anyway. As a matter of fact, just to make you happy, fast food is bad for EVERYBODY. How about they just don't show fast food commercials geared toward anyone (say I with a tinge of sarcasm). Better yet, they can stop making subliminal stereotypically patronizing commercials :idea: :roll:
