Mom, I think Im An Atheist Posted on 04-09-2005

It's been a struggle but now it's official. I'm what you may call an Atheist. Now, I grew up in the church. My mother forced my sister and I to go to Bible Study as well as morning service EVERY Sunday. And on Wednesdays we went to J.A.M a program for preteen and teens. Don't get me wrong. My mother never had to drag me to go..I wanted to!! Oh man..I Believed. I believed so much that when I got saved I thought Jesus stood me up and walked me to the front of the church.... I'm a man now. I'm a man that has gone to college and gotten an education. My beliefs have changed. Through the study of World Religions and developing my own Philosophy on life. Did you all know that Shakespeare wrote a large portion of the Bible?? I mean Shakespeare!! I’m not going to go into every reason I don’t believe but I remember the LAST time prayed.... "God, I couldn't even exist on this planet without you creating it..." Then it dawned on me... "But if you’re the God that created me as well as the planets....Who created you?? How, can a God just *poof* out of nowhere?" Who thought of the idea of "God" any way. In the Hindu, religion there are thousands of "Gods". All in which have a symbolic meaning. You know morality, monogamy, faith etc..All of the Gods help the Hindu's live their life and manage in their area. The same could be said for Christianity. The faith in God, develops morality in people which helps us from killing ourselves to extinct. It also gives us faith that things will work out eventually. You know, I didn’t lose my faith. I just lost my belief in the idea of "god"... We think having faith means being convinced God exists in the same way we are convinced a chair exists. People who cannot be completely convinced of God’s existence think faith is impossible for them. Not so. People who doubt can have great faith because faith is something you do, not something you think...In fact, the greater ones doubt the more heroic they can be...

Yea I guess you could justify your chances w/ unproven info about the Bible. But personal experiences can't ever be refuted.
Amen Amen & Amen!!

No I am not saying what you believe in is wrong. I am saying that what you believe in is not going to convince someone else to believe in what you do. We all live individual lives and we walk them in different ways. So who are you to tell someone else how to walk their own path? It is not your responsibility. It is Kool's responsibility to do his own spiritual research and look within himself to find the connection between him and God. Not Yours. I am sure that you have made it to a point of understanding God and Christ but it is NOT your role to tell him how he should find it. That's the problem with Christians. They don't know the answer to every solution. It is not that simple. The only right and wrong is what you believe is right or wrong. Instilling your own belief on someone else is not going to help someone else with their spiritual growth. So my opinion was not contradictory, i was only saying that he is responsibile for researching his own spirituality. Not You. Not his family. Not a pastor. Not any other Christain. But him.

What on God's green earth are you talking about? The Bible PLAINLY states that you are supposed to witness to other people. That's what just about everyone was doing in this thread in his/her own way. Whatever. I'm not going to debate the issue with you because your arguments are clearly mystified and unfounded. That's just my .05 cent on the matter...

I would rather live my life thinking there is a God and then die and find out their isnt, than live my life thinking there isn't a God , then die and find out that there is. Yes I believe in God and I am a Christian....but think about that quote because its real.

Why are christians blanketed so much? There are christians who aren't hypocritical, who are knowledgeable of what they believe in, and one's who are all in all true

Because people would rather lump sum than to dig deep because it requires them to look at themselves in an unadulterated light...

Your right. But tying factual experience with unproven information is not the way to go about things. Works for some, not for me. I'd rather ponder to myself for an answer, than to blindfully trust what a few men created. Thunder

And what kills me is that people use those hypocrites, and what they say or do, as to justify that the Christian faith is messed up. *I go wayward many times, but that doesn't mean that proves that Christianity is not what it says it is. I'm not who I am supposed to be (I'm working on it though). Cause while yall are letting Satan continue to use you, I'm going to keep praying He makes 100%.
