Frats/Soror's and GPA Posted on 05-26-2005
Karamel

I've wanted to be apart of a certain Black frat and have my goals set on it but the only thing is i currently have a 2.2 but with freshman forgivness taking my worst grade away and summer school grads i should have about a 2.5 overall gpa. i saw that some frats require a certain gpa what is the gpa for your frat and do you think that they will check?

Aye, all i asked was a simple question for those who were familiar with the Kappa grade point average. Not one Kappa answered so it was pointless. laidback why are goin out of your way to disrespect?

I'm an asshole. Is this your concession speech or will you be issuing a formal rebuttal shortly?

Thank You for your permission. But you know if you stayed in your books like you are attaching yourself to my posts then you wouldn't be in here asking this question. Do you have a plan of action for your GPA?

My GPA actually went up when i was on line... I banged out a 3.4 that semester. (Being surrounded by bruhs and faculty that were bruhs as well kinda 24/7 helped i guess. There was at least one bruh in every single class that took. All i had i was my LB's and my books. I know if i can do that when i was on, anybody else trying to get in my frat better be able to get close to same or top me, especially when they don't have pressure on them. Karamel, its good and whatnot that u are in those other orgs but your grades are one of the main things we see and if it doesn't look good on paper it makes u a less desirable candidate especially at a competitive school like Morehouse where everybody and their daddy came in wanting to pledge something and most of them grind harder than the Clipse. I'd get that GPA up before i worry about getting some letters.

Ok hun, first and foremost i want to say that folkz didn't start respondin to this thread with the intentions to bash u. Well...i didn't. The issue here isn't even your grades. It's just that there are alot of things that u need to learn when it comes to greek life. The "c" that u replaced with a "k"...that's some that Kappas do...once they get their letters...not people who want to be Kappas. *and no i don't have a condescening tone right now, it is an endearing one*. Hun, DISCRETION is very important. Yes, even on the net where u THINK no one knows u. I should NOT know what frat u are interested in. That is not my bizniz nor is it anyone elses bizniz on this site. As for your grades, i've already said my bit on it so i won't be redundant. But i won't lie, some folkz grades go up online...and some folkz grades go down. Mine went down...down down. But i had a cushion to fall back on. So if u have a good gpa to start off with, u might not be in bad shape. Not saying these things to belittle u. We say these things to help u. We've been where u are, and right now we are already standin in the place where u want to be. Sometimes u have to be quick to listen and slow to speak. Trust...you'll see in due time.

yeah.. i had a feelin that it might have been a bad move, but i had seen the post that said "Where are my wannabe AKA's?" or "people with Greek aspirations" i thought it would be okay to let people know MY aspirations. the last semester was the bad one. I had a 3.1 in the fall but this last spring just **** me.

Well, if u read that AKA thread thoroughly u might have noticed that the young ladies who did that didn't get much love. Not from AKAs...and not from anyone else. So that's why it's important to sometimes just sit back and read what's already in front of u before performing an action.
