I Want Your Thoughts: Summer Concert...What Age? Posted on 06-07-2005
College Mom

Thanks... I am planning to take my nieces to the Summer Concert that includes 50 cent, Eminem and Lil Jon. They are 17, 16 and 12. Another family member is livid that I would one, take them period and that I would especially take the 12 year old. I have always taken our son and all his friends to various concerts since he was like 10 years old. Matter of fact I'll be going to Summer Jam with him and his friends again this summer...makes our 8th year. He gets to pick my fit from head to toe. This year I (he picked it) got me an akademik jean and red skirt/shirt and some matchin' red/blue nikes...it's cute. Son got taste. Question: How old were you when you went to your first Concert "like" this? Question: What do you think in general about this for the girls ? Note: This is NOT an internet PARENTING question so please hold the "salt".

Whew...what a night we had! Cafe...I will win you over...I will. Just you wait and see. My WHOLE wedding, not just my wedding picture, but my wedding was in Town and Country Magazine and in JET (I just had to crack that face like that) Sometimes Cafe you just think too small. Now the magazine stuff that I mentioned was for me; My professional accomplishments as a black woman. The wedding/marriage stuff was not a part of the explanation. I can't tell you the mags that cover me and hubby or me, hubby and son. Not relevant. I hope you learned something and I hope you grow from this. Cafe, I do apologize if I sound short. I just spent the morning working with MY Summer College Interns and some are as dumb as bricks! I ain't happy with all the basic work Im mo have to do to get them up to College Mom's professional standards. However, when they are done this Summer they will be able to write their own ticket like the College Interns who have come before them.

Can you say: Divine Intervention? My 17 year old and 16 year old nieces left me a message telling me that they found out today that they got into this highly competetive summer program at Stanford University and that they got the full scholarships to make that happen...(I wonder how that happened... :-D) They added that the program started on the SAME day of the concert but they could skip that day and start the day after cause they know I'm cool like that... They cryin' now... I congratulated them and told them that they would indeed be at Stanford University on the first day of this program cause I would be takin them... (Gosh that hurt) I explained that their would be other concerts but not another opportunity to experience this program at Stanford that I "helped" to get them in. My sisters, who is their moms and my mom called and thanked me for doing the right thing which they knew I would. My sisters then whispered that we three sisters should go to the concert like we used to back in the day...hmmm...
