I condition mine everyday in the shower(unless i'm wearing twistouts then i don't do anything for like 2 weeks, & sleep w/ sum kind of satin or silk either a pillowcase or satin scarf. u GOT to, cuz even tho it seem like ya hair can take anything, natural hair is some of the most fragile stuff on earth cuz of the kinkycurls in it. If your stuff is kinda broken off to the point there is no kinkycurl at all, u need to cut a few inches of or start over(i gotta get bout a inch off myself), cuz the breakage will KEEP splitting till u look like them nappyheaded boyz who need a haircut in the WORST waylol(i've been that route before)
