what did yall think of the comments he made about **** Katrina? I personally agree If u wasnt there, here it is WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Rapper Kanye West surprised viewers of an NBC benefit concert for **** Katrina victims on Friday by accusing President George W. Bush of racism. ADVERTISEMENT
Quote:
" George Bush doesn't care about black people," West said from New York during the show aired live on the East Coast on NBC, MSNBC, **** and Pax, just before cameras cut away to comedian Chris Tucker. West, who is black, suggested moments earlier that delays in providing relief to survivors of the **** that hit the U.S. Gulf Coast on Monday and flooded New Orleans were deliberate. He said America was set up "to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off as slow as possible." The Grammy award-winning singer, who was paired with comedian Mike Myers, also said in what NBC described as unscripted remarks, "We already realized a lot of the people that could help are at war right now, fighting another way, and they've given them permission to go down and shoot us." He was apparently referring to shoot-on-sight orders issued to National Guard troops to halt **** and **** in New Orleans. West also criticized the media's portrayal of blacks, saying: "I hate the way they portray us in the media. If you see a black family, it says they're ****. See a white family, it says they're looking for food." In a statement, NBC, a unit of General Electric Co.,said, "Kanye West departed from the scripted comments that were prepared for him, and his opinions in no way represent the views of the networks. "It would be most unfortunate," the statement continued, "if the efforts of the artists who participated tonight and the generosity of millions of Americans who are helping those in need are overshadowed by one person's opinion." The program, hosted by **** of NBC News, urged viewers to donate to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. It included 18 presenters, and featured performances by New Orleans natives Harry Connick Jr. and Wynton Marsalis, as well as Louisiana native Tim McGraw and Faith Hill of Mississippi, which was also struck by

^^^whoa, whoa whoa...Thunderstruck is not racist. ^^^^WHOA, WHOA, WHOA. When did anyone call thunder a Racist??? He just said that what Kanye West did was inappropriate, and it was...even if what he said was right...he might have been thinking that...but that was just the wrong time to say it. I simply said that while he's accusing Kanye West of being childish and ignorant he is displaying those same characteristics by referring to black people as N*iggas and using other derogiatory terms that are obviously an attempt to offend someone or someones. I think that it's very inappropriate to being using terms that he knows people will getting offended about. When people are called ignorant, it simply means there is alot to be learned and u dont know everything. I'm pretty sure everyone who has made it to college (95% of the people on this messageboard) by now knows the definition of ignorant. And I like Kanye West just as much as the next person, but he does have alot to learn. Just because he comes out with 2 CDs does not make him knowledgeable about EVERYTHING thaz goin on in the world. Rappers need to understand that.
I don't think Kanye or anyother rapper, singer, actor, etc., claims to know everything in the world, He's just stating his opinion.

Okay, but there's a time to state your opinion. NOT when you're trying to raise money to help the **** victims. I cant say when would be a better time...but that wasn't it.

^^^^ Why does everybody feel that this would sop people from sending in money (not saying that it didn't) But I feel that if they really plan to help then nothing should stop them. Regardless of if it's Kanye or some famous white man.... somebody is going to have some problems with what was said. He didn't say don't send in the money. He just was expressing his feelings and as it's been stated he was stating what needed to be said there is clearly a problem that someone needs to adress, but for some reason that problem is not being handled. I mean if you had family in New Orleans and were experiencing this terrible situation. If you had the opportunity to express your feelings infront of the whole world would you take the opportunity. i know I would.

I think that was the right time and place for what Kanye West side. I was thinking the same thing. Bush doesn't give a damn about black people. IF that was the case His **** would of touched down in New Orleans, instead of flying over it. Help should have been there when the storm first started, not 5 days later when people are dying. You have babies there with no food. His mother was trapped in St. Bernard nursing home, and every day she called him and said, ‘Are you coming, son? Is somebody coming?’ And he said, ‘And yeah, Momma, somebody’s coming to get you. Somebody’s coming to get you on Tuesday. Somebody’s coming to get you on Wednesday. Somebody’s coming to get you Thursday. Somebody’s coming to get you on Friday’ — and she drowned Friday night. She drowned on Friday night,” Broussard said. “Nobody’s coming to get her, nobody’s coming to get her. The secretary’s promise, everybody’s promise. They’ve had press conferences — I’m sick of the press conferences. For God’s sakes, shut up and send us somebody.” It shouldn't take this long for help to come. So BUSH doesn't give a damn about black people. And yes I voted for John Kerry. So you tell me if he cares are not. And I agree with Kanye West 100%.

Yes you can. A lion has power over a hyena. A hyena has power over a mouse. The hyena can be racist towards the mouse. Mexicans are in a more depreciated state than African-Americans, therefore, you lose. Sorry, game over.

the hell is wrong with yall? the topic is KANYE WEST! not racism. get out of each other's pants and back onto the topic. basischically, the gist of this is as follows: kanye said things that everybody thought, but never voiced. however, he said them at an inappropriate time. THE END.
