At my school we (well they  ) just had a greek winter ball. Well a girl I know is dating a Omega (she wants to pledge) and she wore a purple dress to the ball. She got a lot of attention (not sure if it was b/c her dress was beautiful or disrespectful).
So I'm just wondering was that a bad move or is it ok since her bf is a Omega?? Also does it make a difference that the org she wants to join isn't DST?? :-k
Totally. When I was a prospect, I didn't even want to be seen with people wearing pink or green, let alone wear it myself. What org is your sister in? (excuse me if you have mentioned it before)
^^ That is actually want I was thinking. So long as she was not wearing the colors of the organization that she wants to join, I do not see how she could be viewed as disrespectful.
Her man is a Que so they just might have been trying to coordinate :???:
It shouldn't be that serious that she is limited to wearing only black at events (and that is if there are no members of Swing Phi Swing to **** off...)
I totally feel u on this but even if she did want to be a DST, Zeta, AKA or etc and wore a Red, Blue, or Pink dress. I dont really think that's disrespectful cause she may happen to look awesome in those colors. If thats the case then that's like saying u cant wear a red, blue, pink, or etc t shirt, dress, and etc until or IF u cross into that org. I understand it being disrespectful if she was online then yes that's a problem. But from what I read she wasnt online just attending a ball.
I wish a would see an interestee wearing pink/green/red/pearls to a ball......
Well alot of people may not have becoming greek on their agenda when they firt start college or hec even in their Junior year. So they may attend a ball wearing a pink/red/blue and etc dress their freshman or soph. year and it may not be till their Jun. or Sen year that they may want to greek.

True, but could you imagine seeing someone at one of your programs one night, then wearing a red and white shirt with some red and white sneakers the next day? It happens lol. Like if I know you're a prospect, it's just not a good look. But if you're just some random non-interested girl wearing pink and green, what can I do but shake my head and smile.

I just don't get it. Why shuld the female wear a neutral colored dress if she's not in a soroity or interested in being in one? Maybe she was wearing the purple dress to match her date's suit. It's like a double edged sword. If she were to wear a neutral dress everyone wuld be sayin "Oh did u see so and so? She didn't even wear a dress to match her date's suit." But if she were to wear the purple dress (which she did) folks start bein on that otha ish. "Oh she jus tryin to be an XYZ" or whatever scandalous things they wanna say. I jus mean for real. But that's jus me. If sum1 can fill me in, that wuld be nice. Thanx!
^^^That's entirely the point hun. If she wasn't interested in being Greek, she could wear a rainbow colored dress if she wanted. But the author of this thread clearly stated that the young lady was interested in an org. Therefore, it means that said young lady is being watched, so she should be mindful of her actions and choices. Now if i read the original post wrong...someone look back over it and let me know....

"is the whole color thing really that serious?"...to me?...nah, not really. To some Greeks...yeah, it is.

OK, Thanx alot Blutifully Human! OK so I guess since she is interested in an org it really DOES make her a big target in Greekdom. ::In Elmer Fudd's voice:: "Be vewy vewy quiet. I'm huntin fake prospects." LOL

I think you're confused. Everyone seems to be saying:
If you are interested in joining XYZ you should not be wearing XYZ's colors to a ball. If you are not interested in XYZ, you can feel free to wear whatever you chose.
Hmmmmm......I'm glad that it's not that serious at Tuskegee. We wear what we want to our balls. Most of the time people (well the freshmen did last year) their prom dress. I see it from both perspectives though.
