:-D
I JUST got an inside confirmation or two that my son is an "invited" Alpha!!!!! (he is going to go for it)
He got two "invites" which was nice. I actually helped him a little so, what I want to know how much should I budget for these expenses? My son has no idea (obviously)...so your help would be great.
If I got the terminology mixed up forgive me...I am just SOOOO happy for him!
A little over 1 Grand....some Chapters like the ones here at THE Capstone(DST,Alpha,Kappa) allow you to pay back later over a time period...
Heyyyy- the Capstone is Howard University dude.
I know, right? Wtf is a capstone anyway? Let Bama have that one. Howard wants to be the Capstone, the Hilltop, the Mecca... I'm not even gonna go there about what they oughta call it. *ducks*

If your son has been accepted for a new intake class, he should have been directed to have the money available within a few days. I suggest you not post Beta chapter business on an open forum like this. I MIGHT BE A REGIONAL OFFICER. . . and things are looking mighty shady from my viewpoint.
As far as, expenses, continue your allowance, that is way more than enough for pledging/intake by the old AND new processes. If he knew he wanted to participate, he should have either had this conversation with you all at the beginning of his sophomore year OR been saving up the money.
It's preferable for him to pay for it out of his own pocket. Students tend to appreciate the opportunity better. AND WE DO NOT HAVE A LEGACY CLAUSE, so your sons acceptance is still at best provisional.
Now, please for the love of God and all that is good about black greekdom, NEVER post things of this nature again. As a matter of fact, let me call my frat in DC, right now. . . you say you're from California right?
Oh this will be really easy. . . .
Good God! Do yall see why I say what I say about this poster?? What GROWN **** WOMAN with GROWN **** KIDS does this?!
Discretion people! It doesn't (shouldn't) solely apply to Greeks. Jeez Louise!
why has no one actually SAID exactly what the annual fees are?
and the other stuff you'll have to pay?
:???:
Why would we? It should be listed in his packet from the national organization and the letter from his area director, and chapter.
He needs to communicate that to his mother.
Now that I think about it, the old form was decommissioned. College Mom, your boy has already started the process. As a matter of fact, he should be finished very soon; ie he should have already paid for the membership audition.
But if not, Beta would be the chapter that thinks they are good enough to have a line in 06. . .
Acctually Bama is older so Bama has "The Capstone"...on lock
<--Denny Chimes....it's so tall and big...when I leave my window open at night times, I can hear it wayyyyy across campus... I open my blinds up and see the Tip of Denny Chimes and Bryant Denny Stadium right next to it...beautiful site :-)
The Capstone is a nickname for The University of Alabama coined by former UA President G. H. Denny when he referred to the University as the "capstone of the public school system of the south" in 1831. Be aware that prospective students may not understand its meaning, although other audiences, such as alumni, may.
These slogans have developed around the south....
"See you at the Capstone"
"I'm going to the Capstone"
Etc....
Um.... and when did the University of Alabama begin accepting Negro students? That's not MY Capstone. Shouldn't be yours either...
