How did you teach yourself Spanish? I took about 4 years of Spanish but never learned it fluently. I can read Spanish when I see it. Did you use those Spanish self-help books or do you have friends who speak Spanish? I know a lot of people who have said that they picked up a foreign language quickly by being around friends who speak it.

I love how detailed they are though....

Everyone learns differently so maybe that may work for some.
For me I studied when I was in the 3rd-4th grade, because I wanted to.
just came home one day found an advanced teaching book in the house and I studied it.
I mean it wasn't an everyday thing, it was pick up the book when i felt and try. Most of the time I would just watch Spanish tv shows, or put things in Spanish subtitles.
Finally when I was in the 9th grade I was assigned Spanish 1 [although my heart was set on French (my school doesnt teach French)].
My teacher pointed out that I knew most of the things, or caught on very quickly. [passed the class with 1110%]
Now-a-days I've became closer to my Friend, whom is now my best-friend, and she has the same passion I do, and we both progressed together, and can speak Spanish at any point in time we wish to. [we still expand our vocabulary now while we are in Spanish 2, cause we choose to]
[[sorry so long]]

Oh, I'm not saying it's not. It's just rather difficult and annoying. I'm sorry, I'm ranting here. I had a French teacher who punished our 'uncultured' American **** by speaking purely in French. That lecon.
Ooooh okay I understand, Gosh dern those Natives, But then again they may say the same about Americans.
