Aiight yall.....Its been a minute since I had a more SERIOUS post so....
Peep game, I was listening to the radio while I was gettin ready for work this mornin an the Topic of the day was "Light SKin vs. DarkSkin Black People...is the rumors true about Light SKin having an advantage over more darker tones or is it a myth?"...what chall think about this...an have you experienced anything dealing with the tone of your skin?....DO TELL!!!
Man it doesnt matter skin tones. Cuz a woman can be beautiful no matter what shade, look at Mya, Reagan Gomez Preston, and Gabrielle Union. So I cant say that I look for one over the other it all depends on her
I ON THE OTHER HAND ALWAYS HEAR FROM MY FRIENDS..."YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT GUYS CUZ YOUR BROWNSKIN (OR THEY'LL SAY "IN THE MIDDLE") SO YOU GOOD"....LIKE THAT MAKES IT ANY BETTER...
 Mayun, I hear that ish ALL the time. Mah baby once told me that he didn't really understand why he was so strongly attracted to me the way that he was because he was "only" attracted to lightskinned girls. So I told him..."tha's you...kinda stupid...but tha's you" Then said " Naw, you GOOD! I can fuccs with a brownskinned girl..yeah you good girl" I looked at him like..."shutde fucc up!'

Me being a dark skinned girl have had to deal with this for my whole life. I always tended to hang out with light skinned people, for what reason I don't know. I had a problem with my complexion as I grew up. I wanted to be my mom's complexion, and I really hated the fact that I was the same skin color as my dad. I did some self-therapy and I deal with it (even though to this day I don't like to be darker than what I am...I try to wear sunblock all the time in the summer). I was always the center of black jokes...been called Blackie, Charcoal, blah blah. It began to stop when I started beating people's a$$ for dumb comments.
In the corporate world, I don't think that the complexion has anything to do with it. They just look at us as a minority...Black people. Amongst the black people, some tend to have complexion preference. I have some male friends that do the paper bag check (but still try to holla at me...guess they are curious how chocolate tastes). I also have friends who won't go with someone lighter or darker than them because they think it won't look right.
Personally, I don't care about the complexion. I have dated people who are of different complexions, and I am currently dating someone who isn't even black. I guess since I have been through all the ridicule that I wouldn't do the same to others. As long as they have nice personality, good conversation, and something in common with me, then I can see myself dating them.
Underlying themes of slavery...*sigh* My family has always been an advocate of reading things and becoming more knowledgeable while not being changed in the basic feelings we have as Christians.
No matter what I read anywhere I know that theres a verse in the bible stating equality in God and after that I cant use my own earthly mind to discern people or judge them by anything else but their actions. I believe that true Christians arent racists. If they were true Christians, they wouldnt hate unneccessarily or perpetrate stereotypes to the detriment of this entire world and the people that live in it.
I need to get back to writing
