Man this topic got off my point quickly and i see here that nobody can actually argue with me This thread has turned into a bible debate and thats not where i want it to go because this could go on forever because as i said the bible can say whatever u want it too Many of u want to know at what point that i realized that god doesnt actually exist well if u want to know here ill tell u When i was 9th grade i was having questions about christianity like all young christians do such as Excatly how much sin is to much and if god forgives everything i do then can i sin as much as i want and the problem betweeen the thoey of evolution and creationism and other typical christian conserns so being a good christian i decided that i would read the bible to found out these answers so i started and got all the way up to psalms of the old testment (i think, it was a very long time ago) then i decided that the old testmetn was kinda boring and then went on to the new testament but as i read i realized something THE BIBLE IS JUST A BOOK WRITTEN BY PEOPLE THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO and i wondered why i should base my entire life on a book ( and not even a very good one at that) so i questioned the existence of god but immediatly felt guilty for doin so because ur not supposed to question god then i thought why shouldnt i be able to question him if god is true then my questions will hold up after a lot of reading and late night think tanks i realized that god and religion is just something people invented to take the place for thing that they didnt understand... long story short i really didnt stop beleiving as more i realized that god and christianity made no sense. Also i dont really want to live forever in heaven Think about it if u life forever that is an infinte amount of time eventual no matter what even if u only do one thing every millieneim u will eventually have done everything then after that u still have an infinite amount of time left after that. So it seems as though i woudls get very bored with heaven because here on earth i get bored if i have nothing to do for more than 15 minutes Well that all i have to say on this topic and i really only wanted to get everybody thinking about what they beleive so that if somebody does question ur beleives then u will be able to defend urself and also respect other peoples believes even if u do not agree with them

So what exactly is your problem? The fact that you dont' like the religion of Christianity and the way they present God, or the fact that you just dont' believe in a Supreme Being period? If you don't want to be a Christian, then don't be, but I'd say at least look into the teachings of other religions before you throw your hands up and say, "THERE IS NO GOD BECAUSE OF THIS FLAW AND THAT FLAW IN XY AND Z" Alot of times, folx are ready to call someone a heathen, just because they don't believe in Christianity, hell, it's not the ONLY religion in the world. It wasn't the first, and pretty soon, Islam is going to become bigger than Christianity. I see religion as a way to view God and understand him. Just like there are a dozen ways to get into the city of Atlanta, why can't there be over a dozen ways to be at peace with God?

i guess we have to respect your opinion in this matter becasue it seems like you are set in your ways. but u said you dont really want to live in heaven for eternity???? im sorry but thats really weird. there are only two places you go-- heaven or HELL for eternity. So if you dont want ot go to heaven then you will go to HEll. I would rather be in the presense of God for eternity than be burniing up in HELL for eternity which is infinite. So if I had to make a choice on where I would spend the rest of my days. I would DEFINITELY CHOOSE HEAVEN!!!

To also piggy back on that, much of what the Apostles wrote in their scrolls was written simply for the fact of proving the point that Jesus was the messiah. Old Testament scriptures were misquoted, etc... ya'll really should do some research... I know I said that's what faith is, but there is a difference between being naive and being true to faith...

I think that David just wants someone to have an intellectual religious debate with. I have class in a few...so I'm going to make a quick point. Christianity, like any other religion is based mainly (although not solely) on its main book, in this case, the Bible. The Bible is a collection of books written by different men well after Jesus' said death. Because it was first written in Hebrew, the Bible has gone through an evolution of its own. A few books were left out of the Bible. It has gone through many translations by many rulers, who have had it altered to suit their own needs. Even the true translations alter the meaning simply because the meanings of words changes from time to time. The Bible is also, in my opinion, a shakey source of info. It jumps from Jesus' birth to his adulthood. It states that the first people were created from dirt, yet Mary was later formed from Adam's rib (there's a theory behind that....but I don't have time to get into it). It also has many stories that contradict each other, and peoples' interpretations seem to contradict and at times go completely against the Bible. I don't have time to put more info up....but I'll be back on later.

Sweetheart...all I want to know is who hurt you? If it was not for God you would not have gotten as far as you have. Theory and science are all good but none of that will give you relationship or salvation. Regardless, of how true the Bible is or isn't you've missed one common theme and that is faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. "Things not seen" If you want clarification don't look to man, turn to the one who gave the word.

^^^Interesting point of view.....But, I was just playing "the devil's advocate". I think David was really looking for someone whom he could have an intellectual debate with....not people trying to preach him a sermon (no offense to anyone, but that's what it seems the majority of the people who replied were doing). Besides, history and any religion (not just Christianity) go hand-in-hand. Again, not to come off as rude or offensive, but I was wondering: what do you mean by the comment "who hurt you"? I don't think that people who don't necessarily believe in the things you believe in, the way you belive in them means they were in any way hurt. Also, the word Faith means "the belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without logical proof" (not "the evidence of things not seen"; no evidence exists for the things that we cannot somehow see--whether it can be see with the **** eye, a super-powered microscope, a satellite, or things of that nature...the only thing close to evidence we have for the unseen is theory=belief). You also say "don't look to man, turn to the one who gave you the word." However, for the most part, man is giving the word (both written and spoken it seems). Gee......I can't wait untill they turn on my internet in my room. I hate going to the library to surf the web

I thank you for your insight...it well taken. Concerning my asking "who hurt you?". It has been my personal and professional experience that those who question the existence of God or who feel the need to debate science and religion, have been hurt. Or should I say have experienced an explained hurtful circumstance. About the faith statement, that came from the Bible. Not Webster, Oxford, nor Encyclopedia Brittanica. I believe everyone has the right to question and believe what they want. Everyone including those who are Christians should ask questions, if you don't how can you ever expect to learn. I respect your opinions and my goal is not to change anyone's mind, but to simply express my own.
