Hey I can relate to you some....campus life does get a little better during the fall because they tend to have more parties. But a lot of times you have to create your own fun. Of course coming from up North or from a big city it's going to be boring. I don't know from personal expericence but because my best friend happened to be from New York. I know it **** that you can't have a car your freshmen or sophmore year, but u can always work around that one. Try to befriend upper classmen so that you can get a ride to Norfolk, because the mall downtown is nice....there is three levels. Plus there is Va beach, Bush Garden's, and Kings Dominion which isn't too far....it's all about connections and finding means of transportation. During the regular school year especially in the fall there are football games and stuff. For some people after a while it kind of grows on you and then for some other people it just isn't for them.
The cafe food...*laughs* There isn't anything positive I can say about that..I know I avoided the cafe a many of days...
Nobody is on his back for not wanting to go to Hampton... it's the fact that I have never heard of ANYONE mistaking Hampton for being in the middle of a bustling city. Hell, I knew that Hampton was in the middle of nowhere when I was a freshman in high school. He should have checked all of this out before making his final decision. And then... he hasn't even started REAL college yet... pre-college at Hampton is also comprised of summer bridge students; meaning some students NEED pre-college to get officially admitted into Hampton. They are not going to have parties every night and so forth because these students are there to handle business.. NOT to party. We are just saying that before starting threads like "HAMPTON UNIVERSITY ****", he needs to give it a chance.
Doesn't cite mean to go back and list where you got a particular piece of information from? As in the "Works Cited" page, which is just like a bibliography? If I am correct... why would she cite her statement? Do you mean "preview"? Just a question.
thats basically what im trying to say just using a lil metaphor sweetie. stop treying to shut my intelligence down just because we have different opinions on things. MUUUAAH!!!
Why are yall on his back just because he doesnt like Hampton... Yall gettin offended and ish! When I first visited FAMU, I how my doubts about it. But orientation helped me realize that I could work with it.
But u better believe that after freshman year if I feel there is a better place for me, I WILL BE TRANSFERRING with no hesitation!
Why do black folks feel that we have to settle? Like we have to accept disorgnization and rudeness... I kno I dont!
But right now I am reppin for FAMU!!!!
CLAP!! CLAP!! CLAP!! CLAP!!! For the past like week or so this post has been up you are the first person who understands. You are the first person who thought outside the box. I acknowledge you for that. Why should I settle blacks have choices too.....I feel u on Hampton Suclks being too harsh lets say hampton is whack in more ways then one.
There is something called research son, you should try it. I am an incoming freshman to Hampton The real HU, and i have visted the campus three times. I have researched every school i seriously considered attending. Hampton is in the middle of no where i know this but i also know that hampton has one of the largest organization rosters i have every seen. There are plenty of things to do all the time during the fall semester you just have to look for them. ON TOP OF THAT IT IS PRE COLLEGE . the key word in that name is PRE lol. What in the world were you expecting, a block party everday. Come on man, lets be serious. You are not experiencing the full college experience, and if you are going transfer somewhere else based off of that, then you need not continue with hampton.
perhaps i am being a bit harsh, for that i apologize. However, you have to figure out why you are going to college. Although i want to have fun, i want to go partying and meet people, i am there really for one reason. I am attending hampton to get the best Broadcast journalism education i can get at a historically black college. That is it, if i get the fun social atomsphere, and meet alot of cool people thats great. But if i don't thats fine too. Until you figure out why you are going to college in the first place, i can guarantee you that Howard (the fake HU), Hampton, Harvard or yale will not satisfy your thirst. You first of all have to know what your thirsty for, before you decide what to drink (if that makes any sense).
And for those white is right black people, think about this. Over 80 percent of america's black middle class was educated at Historically black colleges. Working at the same, corporations, and business, as their Princeton, yale, and MIT counter parts. where would we be if there were no HBCU's. Grant it, HBCU's have their problems, but when you attend a PWI you will inherit a brand new world of issues. No college experience is perfects its what you make of it.
Dispite our disagreement Drama King i wish you much sucess in your future endeavors. And i pray that you find your reason for going to college. Stick with Hampton you might be surprised.
I think i wrote to much.
Everything you just mentioned is true, but you gotta remember why people go to college... Education and opportunity, and well me personally, I was also heavily influenced by the beautiful women on campus...
Try to stay positive, cause if you stay negative that ain't gonna make things any better. I mean if it is really that bad, you should probably go ahead and transfer. There are alot of schools that are worse than Hampton...

i will try i have been tryin...and im gona keep tryin. hopefully the fall is better and i get that 4.0 but i cant front that last party for pre-college was poppin!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol holla at yall in the fall
   Dammit, I need to visit this room more often.
But anyways...Ima have to agree with everyone and let you know that you are being a little too critical just to be attending pre college. The fall will probally be 10x better cause ALL the students and new freshmen will be there and more activities will be set up for you to enjoy it. I mean if after the first semester you honestly still hate it...get your transfer papers. There is no reason to stay somewhere where you are unhappy. But seriously, give it a real chance...Cause you havent done that in only six weeks or so.
Like someone said...Hampton may not be for you. But for the time being that you are there be more optimistic about the situation...it will prolly get much better.
