Ok once upon a time my hair was hella long (like middle of my back long) and my mama put my first perm in my head when i was in the 5th grade. I got perms for 2 years until my hair started shedding. So i grew my hair out natural my 8th grade year (keeping it in braids most of the time). And i kept it pressed all threw out high school...people never knew that i didnt have a perm cuz my hair always looked like i did. But anywayze being natural is tedious process and if u dont like foolin with ur hair-i would recommend it cuz ur hair needs a lot of TLC during all this. Even though it helped my hair grow-i dont have the patience that everytime i wash my hair i have to sit and get it pressed jus so i can out side and it look like i did nothin with it. So that is why the day before my graduation i told my mama "PERM MY HAIR!!" cuz i was gettin too tired of everytime i sweated or a drop of water got on my hair-i lost all manageability with my hair. So i have been getting perms for about a year now-but its time to braid it up cuz im tired of even foolin with it now.

My hair matted and I had to cut it after 'the accident' (not life threatening just hair threatening). It was a bit past my shoulders but it had been shedding for a while so the cut was good and I put in braids. During my freshman year, I went to school for about a week and half before I got my cornrolls put in my head. Could not stand to take care of it without a relaxer. It had a relaxer but it did not stay in very long so my hair was kinda wavy. My sophmore year, I came back for band camp and had braids again, I tried to make those suckers last for four months from Mid July to End of October when my girls and I sat down at my big sister's house and started a hair unbraiding party. My hair was out of braids till Christmas break (can we say free relaxer? for botching the first one). Then after Spring Break, my hair was back in braids till the end of the school year. I have about an inch of relaxer left. I did not have to cut out the relaxer except that one time. During this period, I get my hair pressed every two weeks. Now I've found that I like cornrolls in two or more rows than regular micro/box braids. It's all on how you take care of your hair. I kinda enjoy my hair without the relaxer. It's healthier and not shedding as much. The break off points in my hair are actually growing. I like the natural look. It's better this way. I can still have long straight hair if I want to but in this case it's healthy and my scalp is oh so nice. No more painful relaxers for me.

I didn't get my hair relaxed until I was like...15. But I HAD to get it relaxed...I didn't even want to. Cuz my hair is so thick, that w/o a relaxer, to get it straight, it was damaging it...and making it break off and junk. Cuz I had to use soo much heat to get it straight. It was bad. But now that I have it relaxed...it's alot healthier now.

OMG I AM SO ANNOYED BECAUSE MY HAIR USED TO BE SOOOO CUTE. When it was curly. I used to keep it in a curly puffy ponytail everyday! And I could wear it down (im mixed and my hair grew past my ****). I could even straighten it but it would take like 1 and a half hours. Now its all gross and relaxed.. it was nice at first, sorta wavy/curly. Then I began washing it with shampoo ect. and the relaxer started WASHING OFF AFTER 1 DAY AND IT CAME OUT ****. I WAS SO ANNOYED. It was like the first front was natural, the middle was half curly half straight, and the BACK WAS STRAIGHT! ITS SO ****. gosh. I really wish I could grow out my hair faster.... its been a few weeks and it grew out a few inches. FASTER FASTER! I CANT WAIT ANY LONGER. I just wanted to experiment and it turned out UGLAYY! LADIES, I RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT RELAX YOUR HAIR. ITS TERRIBLE. It makes it unhealthy, I mean natural hair is wayyy more beautiful.

OH YEAH AND ALL YOU PEOPLE READING THIS, if you havent already relaxed your hair, DO NOT THINK ABOUT DOING IT. IF YOUVE READ MY POST ABOVE, THINK TWICE BEFORE DOING ANYTHING CHEMICALLY WITH YOUR HAIR. I MEAN SERIOUSLY. If I could go back in time I would change my decision of ever even relaxing my hair. WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY PUT IN IT. IT SMELLS LIKE... ugh you dont wanna know. But anyways it requires a long process of pulling and screaming and... just kidding BUT IT ISNT WORTH IT! DONT DO IT! Also, how come Im the only poster in 2008...

Because you replied to an old thread. As for your last question about cutting the relaxed hair out, I say leave it in and let it grow out. Once that happens you can go back to your natural hair. What made you want to relax it at all?

Because my hair was so annoying so I wanted to relax it. It was so puffy and I could barely brush it out. It wasnt really all nasty and stuff but it was really THICKKKKKK and curly. And really long. thats why lol =[
