A friend of mine told me that you are never suppose to shake a delta or AKA's hand. She said that one time when she was introducing her self to one of them and she reached out to shake their hand they just stood there and looked at her like she was crazy. what is the reason behind this? and is this looked down upon?
Hello!!

The mean ladies of pink and green
BY LAKEISHA HUGHES

Numerous times I’ve heard rumors about the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. being rude, snobbish and unapproachable goodie two-shoes who think they are the prettiest and brightest girls in the world.
As a matter of fact, in California we call them the “Mean pink and green.”
Tuesday evening, I went to “Meet the Greeks” in the Cotillion Ballroom and the rumors manifested. As I went down the line to introduce myself to the AKA sisters, the majority of their noses were held high and they looked at me with disgust from head to toe.
Some of the women didn’t even shake my hand; and the women who did, shook it poorly as if they were forced to do it.
But I was not the only person the women were callous with. There was a young woman in front of me and one of the AKAs reprimanded her about her appearance, which was not inappropriate at all.
I guess it just wasn’t up to par according to the AKA “dress code,” and after a while I noticed they were vicious to everyone.
I was furious, not necessarily because the AKA’s were cruel towards me, but because of their malicious actions towards the women who have desired since they were young to become one of them.
Personally, I was just there to “Meet the Greeks,” but so many women came out that night to hopefully meet their future sorority sisters.
Honestly, the majority of the women came out to meet the AKAs, but left wanting to cry.
Ever since they were little girls they’ve been around and have had dreams of wearing “pink and green,” but now, after that night… most of their dreams have been crushed.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to say that every AKA is ferocious and stuck up.
Look at Miss Southern; she is the most kind-hearted and influential individual that I know.
Who knows, maybe the AKAs were just putting on a façade to scare the newcomers; I’m sure that they’re really sweethearts.
I’m just saying, try not to fit the stereotype, and always remember that the first appearance is everything.
Doesn't mean I agree/disagree with article
:smt120 ... "cant stand the heat...get out the kitchen"
You dont think actions like this is disrespectful to the legacy of the founding women?? Just seriously asking! Not trying to assume anything!
My sister, who is a AKA, hated it. We don't attend SU, some of our f/members do, but we visit the campus when we are in LA.

*** correction: Founding Ladies. any way Its not desrespectful... and if you cant take something as simple as my not shaking ur hand or wanting to touch you then you dont need to join my org. simple as that. and I wouldnt go out my way to respect any prospect...especially since 99% of the prospects at HU are triflin as heck
ChangePlease. It's so funny how on certain topics I can almost understand this lunatic's logic, and on others I'm just disgusted. :-k I peek in here every now and then against my better judgement, and CP usually reminds me that there is only one meaning that the D9 and any "mimics" can ever retain in my mind.
It goes without saying that (on this board) AKAtude proudly fits her stereotype.
*makes some tea; sits back to see how else ChangePlease will **** off the Greek Freeks*
