You KNOW I taught you everything you know.....
Anyways, why do I want to go to a black school?? That's like asking why is the ocean so deep.......why is the sky blue? I am sure there are answers to the question, but right now I can't think of them off hand. Its like falling in love with someone, you can't think of all reasons why you love them exactly, you just know you do. and if anyone tries to tell you wrong, no matter who they are, you stick by your love. Well, that's the connection between me and Howard. For me, it is the greatest school in the world. Most importantly I FINALLY WANT TO BE IN A PLACE WHERE I AM SURROUNDED BY INTELLIGENT BLACK PEOPLE!!! During my high school years, most of the black people.....or just I say ni99as didn't really do anything. they were just shuffling through life. I and three other blacks are like the cream of the crop. The rest at my school are either asian or hispanic, or russian. Also, another reason I wanna go to Howard is because I feel more comfortable around my people. Other people can't relate when I talk about the hood, or certain movies, or even certain types of food that black people are used to. They definitely can't relate to my purpose of educating my people, and helping us elevate to the greatness that are ancestors acheived so long ago. I know at Howard I will finally have the opportunity to learn about African and African American history, and read African American literature, aside from the usual Maya Angelou and Richard Wright. I want to be able to have a class discussion about racism in America, and the plight of the black community. Where else would I go besides an HBCU that would give me the opportunity to take Swahili as a foreign language?? Or have a majority of my teachers coming from the Motherland?? I don't know many. also, at many PWIs, most the of the blacks there were "fake". Too out of touch with their ghetto past, they didn't really care about "black" people and how to help the community, they just cared about themselves and making money. I hope at Howard things are different, but I have a feeling my brothas and sistas won't let me down.
All in all, I love being around my people, and too many white peole makes me nervous--point blank.
GOD BLESS THE HBCU.....AND THE GHETTO THAT CONTAINS IT!!!!
that is all; this your local revolutionary signing off......
