I wanna go Au Natural Posted on 05-31-2005
1st Born Second

I think I wanna go natural. But I don't know where to start. Also, i kinda don't wanna give up my perm. I love going to get my hair done and all that other stuff. I've thought about getting braids and just letting my perm grow out. Is that a good start? Somebody help a Sistah out!

im goin natural too, but not because of any proud to be ****/**** is happy/"a sister with a processed hair is a processed mind"/a natural sista is a real sista ideas....im just tryin to grow my har out and i think da best way to do it is to give up the relaxer for awhile...i dont know dat my natural thing is not goina last that long tho cus i got that African village hair and limited patience....i was natural (for two years) before and i just kept my hair in braids....but dat got old for me and i wanted to change my style up....natural styles (besides braids) are too limited and they dont really "fit" me....anywayz i went back to the perm cus there wasnt much for me to do with my village hair...but here i am crossing back to the natural side cus my relaxed hair is too thin for my taste and i want to grow it out...so i guess for rite now IM PROUD TO BE **** (til prom when i perm the ****outta dat maf*cka)

natural styles (besides braids) are too limited
That's a very big misconception. But i won't front, i felt the same way as well when i first started wearing my hair in natural styles. U just have to consult some professionals, check out hair magazines that spotlight natural hair, and keep your eyez open for new looks. There actually ALOT of variations. Depending on your length, there are styles for just about every occassion that u can think of. Just have to think out of the box.

^^^ theres's a book called "nappyisms" in case you haven't heard of it. it has a lot of those types of sayings in it. it can be a turn-off if you're not natural already but i thought it was coo.

I cut my hair and rock little gel locks, then when it got longer I started wearing braids, sow-ins, wigs @ ponytails w/ braids (when I had no money) and whatever I think of. Remember hot **** six is your friend and natural hair needs trims too (which is what I need in this picture <<<----).

I relax my hair but I would like to say congrats to all of those who are transitioning or have tranisitoned, I have to give y'all props for making that decision, I have considered doing it as well, but my hair has always been shoulder length and longer so to cut it off is a scary thought, but I want healthy, strong hair! Black hair media has a message board and they give really good advice on hair care for natural and relaxed hair, you all should try it out!

i've had natural hair my entire life and it has been healthier for my hair than not. If u want to grow out the perm you should consider two things: 1: because u no longer have a perm you can now press your hair, which can look just like a perm if u take get a good hair dresser, 2: with a press you cannot sweat or get it wet cuz it will revert like it was never straight. So if your an active person, like i am i would suggest you keep it braided. or you can try to go to those dominican people because they make ANY kind of hair look fabolous!
