So I got this question from the latest VIBE magazine...and the choices were: Tupac, Will Smith, Queen Latifah, Mos Def, Ludacris, DMX, and Ice CUbe.
Who you think made the best transition into acting and why?
I'll be back with mine later....
What movie did mos def act in? I ain't never seen him actin in anything besides that one mtv beyonce movie.
Bamboozled
Island of the ****
Carmen: A Hip Hopera
Monster's Ball
Brown Sugar
The Italian Job
The Woodsman
Something the Lord Made (HBO)- Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie (Emmy Nominated), Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television (Golden Globe Nominated)
Lackawanna Blues
16 Blocks (Fliming)
The Brazilian Job (Fliming)
... some other independent films
I must say Luda played the hell out of his role in Crash, but the best in the biz have to be Will, Queen, and Pac.
Mos Def is on the come up though, give it a little time and he'll have that Will Smith status.
K, ...if we are talkin about serious "acting" here, meaning jumping out of your own character and portraying another persona, i'm gonna have to be real. I only really see that done well by Will Smith, Queen Latifah, and Mos Def.
Don't get me wrong, Ice Cube and Tupac, but in my opinion...their work isn't all that versatile. Whether it's Anaconda, Friday, or Boyz in Da Hood...i have never seen an extreme difference in Cube's roles. Seems like he's just being himself.
U dont see the difference between Doughboy and Craig?
1. LL Cool J - His music has changed with the generations and he is a really good actor.
2. Will Smith - The only reason he came in second is because he wasn't all that when it came to rapping.
3. Queen Latifah
