Everyone is entitled to there opinion but will be looking crazy come super bowl picking against Vick. PHILLY REALLY SUUUUUUCKS!!!!!!!
No run defense? No defense period. I feel your pain. We had a chance to win that Chicago game but it seems like the Bears and the crowd got too hyped once Grossman came in. Our defense actually played pretty decent in that game, its just our offense kept going 3 and out. Vick really needs to learn how to look off more than one receiver. It's as if his intended target isn't open, he tries to force things to happen by either throwing a bad pass or running when there's nowhere to run. I REALLY hope he works on his accuracy in the offseason because there were quite a few passes he threw where the receiver was open and he threw it too high, too low, or behind them.
As for the TB game, we would have won that game if our defense had actually showed up to keep the game in control. The offense was productive putting more points on the board than I expected. But we had so many injuries and had to play so many inexperienced people that we didn't have a chance. Pretty much our whole secondary was hurt, Dunn was hurt, and we lost both starting offensive guards. But I'm not gonna make excuses, because there are plenty of other teams in the NFL that still get the job done with a multitude of injuries (see New England Patriots). It seemed as if we gave up once that FG was blocked; you could tell how dejected everyone was on the sidelines. I think Vick hit the nail right on the head when he said "That kick being blocked kinda put things into perspective like.........this just ain't our year." But when you think about it, with the team that we were putting out there on the field, we most likely would have been making a first round exit anyway. We lost alot of close games this year. We just don't know how to finish the deal.
I think in the offseason we definitely have to look into getting a new safety either through the draft or free agency. Also, another big play defensive end would be nice because Brady Smith is old and isn't durable (missed the last half of the season). I think our front seven will be okay next year because alot of our young guys got lots of playing time (Boley, D-Mo, Chauncey Davis, Jonathan Babineaux, etc...) and we will be a stronger unit when everyone is healthy again. That secondary though......I knew we were in trouble when Kevin Mathis was out for the season in Week 1.
As for the offense, Vick definitely needs to improve, and personally I don't think he deserved to go to the Pro Bowl this year. He needs to work on accuracy, as well as protecting the ball better when he runs. His running skills are nice, but for us to get to that next level, he will have to be a bigger threat throwing the ball. You saw what happened when we played a good defense that shut down the run (Bears). Even though we had a bad year this year, its not the end of the world because I think we'll be improved next year. Our receivers got a chance to develop some chemistry together with Vick (Roddy White got lots of PT for a rookie and Jenkins for a 2nd year man). When you combine that with Vick still learning the west coast offense (remember, most experts say it takes 3-5 years to be comfortable in it. Next year will be his 3rd year in it), it makes me feel good about next year. Who knows, maybe our receivers could develop into a big-time, young 1-2 punch like Boldin and Fitzgerald but with a better QB. Also, its not really an issue that needs to be addressed immediately, but we also need to look into getting another sometime in the near future. Warrick Dunn will be in his (I think) 10th year next year, and Duckett looks to be nothing more than a short yardage back. He hasn't really developed into a consistent bruiser of a running back like we thought he would, maybe he'd be trade bait in the offseason?
Looking back on this thread its funny how i was pittin EAGLES against the FAlcons again.....and none of them makes the playoffs......funny sh*t...well not really
