I have enough brain-rot in my life already. If I need a fix that bad, I can go on-campus or to my parents' house. And there's always reruns. S**t, I've survived 20 years without a TV in my room, I'll make it a few more. smh...
Yeah, it really is that crucial. I haven't watched any TV since September except for a little of Carrie before Halloween. I've known all along that I had to be on-campus for the premiere. The Dark Tower Project is co-hosting a viewing party so you know I'm gonna be there (even though I have more important stuff to not be doing). I've downloaded every preview and trailer I could find, and I'll post all the links here in a minute. I was gonna take some of those cardboard ad thingies out of the MARTA trains to use as posters in my room, but they were all gone by Friday. I'd been trying to nab one since Monday and some stupid **** or top-flight security was always standing in front of them. :x

thank you, change. "get it done suckers NOW" sounds so much politer than "shut up and do it, if not find some white nerd to do it for u" politeness is power, people!

my jaw was dropped.....seriously like I think aaron was trying to make it funny by having ruckus come up and say something about Niggers...but it was too late I mean I was like.....Woah, ya know?... I'm still kinda shook up from what happened in the episode.
yeah.... i'm still kinda speechless. For the Cartoon Network at 11pm this was a very unsettling episode when one considers all of the people who have seen this. I really did not feel proud of my people after the episode was over. There was a message but it still seemed like it was an extreme means of trying to convey it. Controversy gets ratings and what not but i'm still debating whether show helps us as a people or is detrimental. On one hand it brings to light things that we need to work on as a people and relevant issues. However, on the other side so far the majority of our portrayal on the show is one that has been negative. It seems that in the last 4 episodes McGruder has been using Boondocks (the TV show at least) as a vehicle to voice his overall disdain with different facets of our people. I know white people are having a ball with this in the comfort of their own homes and around the water cooler. The first show crossed some lines here and there... but this one seemed to just go over. I still don't know how i feel overall tho. I have to see it again and reevaluate it cus i know McGruder does point out some good things but for now something doesn't sit right with me (at least with this episode) and i can't quite articulate it just yet.

McGruder is just going after Black on Black crime..... he points out why **** fight, why **** die....he is pointing out worthless fights in the club, Gangs and all types of stuff that isnt necessary
True...I think that was pointed out when this was said " 6 out of 10 n i g g a moments begin with sneakers. 50% of those sneakers are Nikes." Though profusely funny, it pointed out how ridiculous unecessary fights are.

I got what he was trying to communicate. The problem to me is how he goes about it for a show that airs at 11pm on a Sunday with a majority young white audience. Although we may get it there are people in this country where this is their only exposure to black folk and i don't think they will. They probably will interpret it as how things are for our culture as a whole instead McGruder pointing out one small facet of everything. Think about it... (especially those who have been up on the strip for the last 6+ years such as myself). In this show do you sense an overall positive portrayal of our people or a negative one? I personally sense the latter. He does make comments about others but I've noticed the show focuses mainly on us unlike the strip which deals with politics and general things going on in current day. Basically for a show where the majority is white it almost feels like its a way to exploit and air out our cultures dirty laundry and although it may help in some ways i still can't figure out if it helps more than it is detrimental. Only time will tell. Its only been 4 shows and the rest of the season is left so we'll see where it goes from here. I wasn't feeling this episode in particular tho.
