Religion is the **** of the masses--Karl Marx

"Religion is the **** of the masses"--Karl Marx. My unfortunate Sociology professor mentioned it in a discussion during class. It got pretty heated. But after all the hubbub died down, it got me to thinking: does religion make us who we are, or is it the other way around? What do you think? (Even though I'm a Socialist and people say that's a step towards Communism, I still think Marx was just an emo before his time. This little adage further proves my point.:splat

But I really do support certain aspects of the idea of Satan...at least within the context of the ideology espoused by Anton LaVey.
I thought you didn't believe in Satan or hell. I'm just curious to why all of these topics, that you are starting, are based on religion. Why not talk about general subjects? How about starting threads about the weather, your favorite hobbies, etc.. ( in other words... something light). For some one who doesn't want Christianity enforced on them... why start topics that will eventually lead to someone forcing their religious beliefs on you? Anyway, just a thought.

Um. I started this thread. Not prettyboi04 (He wishes!). All I did was ask a question based on a discussion in my Sociology class. I'm not going to lie, I foresaw a reaction like this--but not in this amount. However, I am at a loss to understand why any time religion is discussed, it's an opening to start imposing beliefs on others.

Its funny because uh as "Unreligious" as i can be, in a religous thread , religion is a belief and just as in any other conversation, you usually impose your opinion of the subject on the others , sumtimes subconsiously. So if religion is the subject... it is inevitable. How about we stop being so subjective, opionated and so damn sensitive. Cause least we forget in some countries if you dont believe exactly what the masses believe... then... or :behead: ...yadigggg.

That head chopin and hangin is nothin compared to burnin in Hell yadigg. Karl Marx is the subject and his fruit points to the demonic. now if you dont believe in the supernatural. then you will get down with any program because it sounds good, looks good or taste good. How many have contracted stdeez because of outward appearance. What if he was in a secret society like adolf **** the thule society . well like adolf **** his heart has been left in his writing. And believe me i aint mad at pi or prettyboy i was just sharing as they were in the end the truth shall prevail even if it take many years to surface. but why waste time when Yahshua is the Truth.....pick up your cross and follow Yahshua or you know follow men like karl marx ,prince hall, or jim jones I choose Yahshua

Yeah. Demonic. Well, I'm beginning to think that any concept that questions the Christian faith is demonic. Is this Dark Ages? Am I missing something here? You know what's funny? Dan Brown practically brings Christianity to task in the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. And here's the catch...Dan Brown is Christian. I wonder what's up with him?

Yeah, they make you squirm, no doubt about it. But they also make you think. I get a serious kick at some of the subjective posts that are given sometimes--in the back of my mind, I'm like, you know, you don't HAVE to give an opinion. I mean, so there's no reason to be all saturnine and malicious about it.

Nice example of Christian presumptiveness. Burning in hell? Give me one shred of evidence that hell exists.
