Hey I can relate to you some....campus life does get a little better during the fall because they tend to have more parties. But a lot of times you have to create your own fun. Of course coming from up North or from a big city it's going to be boring. I don't know from personal expericence but because my best friend happened to be from New York. I know it **** that you can't have a car your freshmen or sophmore year, but u can always work around that one. Try to befriend upper classmen so that you can get a ride to Norfolk, because the mall downtown is nice....there is three levels. Plus there is Va beach, Bush Garden's, and Kings Dominion which isn't too far....it's all about connections and finding means of transportation. During the regular school year especially in the fall there are football games and stuff. For some people after a while it kind of grows on you and then for some other people it just isn't for them.
The cafe food...*laughs* There isn't anything positive I can say about that..I know I avoided the cafe a many of days...

Hello............Just gettin back from France!
I attended the Pre-College Program this Summer @ Hampton and I had a great time. One thing you have to realize about Hampton is, its not in a big city so you cannot expect it to be like some of the big cities up north. I am from Orlando and here there is ALWAYS something to do, but I knew how Hampton would be before I even went up there. If you walking around campus being negative then you will have a negative experience.
To respond to someone who wrote something about Hampton not liking people from New York or Dean Ape(Dean McMorris, kool guy) not liking you guys either is a BUNCH of crap. The problem with people from New York is, they come to Hampton tryin to be thugs. You CANNOT be a **** in college, ESPECIALLY at Hampton University. You are in the compnay of the Black Bourgeois and you are walking around with that hood-rat attitude, so of course you won't be like by the students or faculty at Hampton. Honestly, I had no problems with the people from New York, I didn't hang with them, but for the most part, I didn't have a problem with them.
Another thing you need to consider, it summer! Everybody is gone home for summer vacation so you cannot expect the campus to be as it would be in the fall. Summer had maybe a thousand students. Fall will have a lot more than a thousand students. I agree with the person who wrote you are probably bored because you are sitting in the dorm readin this. You can go out places and meet people. You could go places if you got out and met some upperclass men with cars, I did! I just think that if you go to Hampton University with a negative attitude then you will have a negative experience.
Wait until you complete one year @ HU and then assess whether or not you wanna return. There is NO OTHER PLACE ON EARTH LIKE HAMPTON U......SO ENJOY IT MAN!
Good, Better, Best....Never Let It Rest........Until Your Good Is Better and Your Better is Best!

^^^ I completely agree with everything but one part...Black Bourgeois...Yeah most of the higher level administrators are pretty well off...but it doesn't help the myth of Hampton being a bunch of well off black people. Yes our school has high standards...hence our dress code and various other rules...but most of the student body is struggling from bill to bill and are the most down to earth folks you would ever meet. I just had to point that out because I know some folks would have taken that statement and rode with it.
