I agree that Oprah would have to spend like maybe 8 or 10 years as a congress person and work her way up. Then she'd have to finally Marry Stedman, after that she would be a major contender.
I totally forgot about Stedman...

It was considered realistic to be black and a **** in this country. It was realistic to be patronized, hung beaten and lynched in america. It was realistic that all blacks were ignorant, stupid, inferior, and worthless in this america. It was realistic that blacks could never be equal to white people in america. See all of that up there was polictical slander. On top of that is was the LLLLAAAAWWWW, a little something called jim crow, and black code comes to mind. It doesn't get more political than that. I can tell u that white people fought hard for 600 years to keep it that way. HERES A THOUGHT, were would we be if we had accepted that reality and rolled the hell over. Oh wait, i forgot something, one of the most powerful people in government right now is SECRETARY OF STATE; COLLIN POWELL; a black man. Go figure, i am sure that happening wasn't realistic.
Well I know that we are slowly makin transitions and gettin higher and higher, and I didn't say that Oprah never could become president. But I just don't see it anytime soon. I am not one that is always cool with the way things are, and thinks negative about the future. We don't even know how interested that Oprah is in politics. But I guess I am thinking about the present, and I don't see anything like this happening within the next 10-12 years, but beyond then it could be more realistic.

U know i am so tiried of this like Oprah's a black women she can't do it. Lets look at what Oprah has become, she is a self made black billionaire, a few years ago that was "Believed to be" impossible, after all she is a black women. Before that, no one every believed that a Russell Simmons could turn Rap into the mulit billion dollar industry it is today. Before that few blacks believe that we would ever have a top rated tv show. Then the Bill Cosby show came along and showed white America that an all black cast is a bankable product. Way, before that it was believed that blacks would never attain civil rights. "The white man won't give them to us". Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Bobby Seal, Huey Newton, Nat Turner, Fredderick douglass, Booker T. Washington, Barbara Jordon and others; all were considered crazy and unrealistic for what they did. Nowadays its like why didn't we stand up and demand for our equality before. Before that it was believed that blacks would never be free, it took about 400 years, but guess what, we are free today. I don't leave in a box, where my actions are dictated by the white man. I believe in endless possibilties, just look at what the human race has accomplished in the past century. I don't agree with everything she does, but dayum Oprah is a smart business women. It is her determination and her work ethic that have made her sucessful and rich. I am not saying that she could run tomorrow and win with no government experience. Let her get her feet wet and she could achieve whatever she wants. It is not white people that determine how far and how sucessful we are in life, it is ourselves. More importantly than that; if it is GOD's will, than there is no force on this earth that can stop u. We as a race of people need to stop looking at the mountain that is in front of us, and do as martin Luther King said, "i am here to tell u tonight...that i've looked over, and i've seen the promised land". Perhaps i am a eternal optimist, but if we can go to the moon and back, Oprah Winfrey can be President of the United states
I think you mis-interpreted what he said. We definitely aren't being negative...we are just being REALISTIC. We all know how the power structure in America is...White men on top, then white women, then black men, then black women, as far as just going with blacks and whites. Do you realize that this is POLITICS???? This is not a TV Show, this is not "the apprentice" or any competition of who can become more successful. If there is one thing that white America will try their hardest for it to never happen, it is a black president. They don't even want a white woman president. So a black woman president is two strikes. This has nothing to do with me and some others being pessimistic at all, we just realize that we are in AMERICA, and this is one thing that they could definitely prevent from happening. Determination can make you rich, and bein rich can help you become a president, but just because you have both does not mean that you can win the damn presidency.
I apologize, i must have been mislead by the numerous statements about America never allowing a black person to be president. (i.e)

No, no, no, no, but see lets ignore the millions of milestones we have accomplished, and use the fact that we are black as a handicapp. Lets not look at the great towering Empires of Egypt, and Ghana, but focus on this handicapp we call blackness. Lets not encourage and empower one another, but use our black skin to divide and tear down one another. To me Its like we have admitted defeat before we have even begun to fight. Its like, oh well i am black, might as well forget about the white house now. Lets put ourselves in this little box of i can'ts and it wont work. Lets wait for the white man to give us some construction material to make our little box, a little bigger. WELL,I don't leave in a box, where my actions are dictated by the white man. Well, I see you stated some well-deserved accomplishments. However, you would have to agree they are in the sports/entertainment field. The only avenue whites have allowed blacks to excel without limitations and its obviously used to keep black people docile(ie on the court/in front of the tube, instead of in the classroom).Civil rights were human rights. We had to plead to the white man for human rights. But not Malcolm when he started to go outside the US and cause international buzz that's when the govt. decided give African Americans human/civil rights. Now when you talk about politics, you mean power, when you talk about power you mean the US. Government. That's one thing the white man don't play with. POWER. (The Democrats only want our vote , not our leadership)Oh , dont forget America prides it self on being the melting pot of the world. I mean there has been 43 presidents none were of color, 43 vice-pres. none were of color. Same for directors of the FBI and CIA and the reason is because secrets. The government was, is, and will always be coordinated by white men. Now when Barack Obama decides to run, it might get ****. I hope Oprah does run and win presidency hopefully she would be first president to sign the ACT of voting for blacks, into a LAW. at NIA LONG

a response to what? everything's already been said... but i guess i could start talking about immigration and the state of the union currently, plus you have to realize that today is a lot different than it was back then, by saying that i mean that people are stupid, and as the years progress, they get dumber and dumber, i also hope you realize that america will not last forever, every great empire in the past has fallen and america is no different, the question isnt if, but when. i dun know how many times ive said this, but a lot of americans are stupid, like... really really really stupid, and ignorant... but as long as our votes actually count, then anything is possible, we never know, maybe after we vote all the votes are thrown out and someone else is elected, that's a possibility, i dont think you can say that a black man can never be president, but i'm pretty sure that you can say a "n****r" can never be president, the question is, does a black man WANT to be president of the united states of america, its all a mindset, gorwing up black u want to be a basketball player or a football player, a rapper, something glamorous, not the president, plus you cant be the president if you are selfish and self-centered and all about personal gain, because you wouldnt care about the people. i never would have imagined that the #1 golf player would be a black man, or the #1 tennis players would be a black woman, or that the best lacrosse player to live according to most people is a black man, things like that, those show you really that anything is possible, and after you read this post you are going to say blah blah blah, the power is in the white people at the top, but as long as we havent been lied to about the voting process, that is not true, the power is actually in the people at the bottom, the ones voting... I think that if anyone sees themselves as a black man then there is no way they will ever become president of the united states of america, why? because they will be representing the blacks, but america is much more than that, however, if you see yourself as a MAN, then you can represent an entire nation, different skin colors are not different species, but you must see that you are classified by this system for a reason, so you dont realize that we are all human... i still dont even know what a "black person" is or an "african" person... people talk all the time about "im going to go to africa".... what? you cant buy a plan ticket to "africa" not all africans have black skin.... and tell me what a black person is anyway... is being black a mindset or a skin color? if its a mindset, then there are people with dark skin who arent black, and there are white people who are black, and if its a skin color, then where is the boundary set at who is "black" and who isnt, what is an albino, hell what is michael jackson? before you were put on the boats and taken to america, you werent "black" the term is used to classify you, and once you are classified, and you believe the classification, then its over, mission completed the question left to answer is does oprah consider herself a black woman, or does she consider herself a human being
