What is the "real thing"by the way?
People fear what they don't understand and hate what they can't conquer
~ Ruyard Kippling
isn't that in your sig?
I understand where you are coming from. There will always be those who slip through the cracks fo whatever reason.
For the real brothers out there we understand there is a time and place for everything and where there is a will there is a way.
I know plenty of people who are in mutliple organizations (some who are in 3) and their involvement has not suffered at all. Granted thats not everybody, but for my experiences thats been the vast majority of mutual bruhs.
Now when it comes to people like Count Basie and people like him:
When you get to older you may or may not become distant from whatever fraternity you are in. HOWEVER, when we look at his life as an example we can see that he was an exemplar for uplifting the values of BOTH orgs. He may not have been paying dues (don't know if he was or wasn't) but what matters is he continued to uplift mankind and promote those values with his work and hopefully he was still be a good brother ot those in need as well when the time came to it even if his orgs weren't in the back of his mind at all times.
