WE HAD TO DISCUSS THIS IN CLASS TODAY. THE TOPIC WAS DO YOU FEEL THAT BLACK ENTERTAINMENT MEANING MOSTLY COMEDY IS MAKING THE ENTERTAINERS OUT TO BUFFOONS. AN EXAMPLE WAS MARTIN'S SHOW (BEST SHOW EVER), HOW HE I GUESS ACTED CRAZY AND JUST OFF THE WALL. AND HOW COAL WAS ACTIN DUMB ALL THE TIME. WELL I FEEL THAT SOMETIMES ENTERTAINERS PUSH IT TO A BUFFOONERY LEVEL BUT ITS JUST ENTERTAINMENT. THEY HAVE A FLYER AT HOWARD SAYING TO BOYCOTT BET. CUZ IT SAYS THERE IS MORE TO BLACKS THAN WHAT YOU SEE ON BET. THIS IS TRUE BUT SHOULD WE NOT SUPPORT BLACKS IN WHAT EVER THEY DO. WE ARE THE ONLY RACE THAT DOESNT SUPPORT OUR ON RACE. INSTEAD OF SAYING IM NOT GONNA WATCH THAT ENTERTAINER BECAUSE HE IS MAKING BLACKS LOOK BAD, WE SHOULD BE LIKE IM GONNA SUPPORT HIM REGARDLESS. WE DONT SUPPORT FAMOUS BLACK PEOPLE AND GO SEE THEM SPEAK, WE DONT SUPPORT BLACK ARTIST AND BUY THERE MUSIC, WE DONT GO SEE BLACK MOVIES LIKE WE SHOULD. I THINK BLACKS CAN BE MORE SELFISH THAN OTHER RACES. AND THIS IS WHY I THINK WE ARENT DOING AS WELL AS OTHER RACES.

*BET doesn't even come on Sunday's fa real (go on and marinate on that one). All they show is those paid programs wanting you to give to some organization or something. It's rubbish. Not even Black churchs. They have one or two programs in the mornin' (Bobby Jones, Lift Every Voice) but that's 'bout it.
*Dave Chappelle, I don't really consider him to be as spiteful of Blacks as we think. He makes fun of everyone, pretty much equally. And I think that he can make a bad situation pretty funny. Good stuff. I wish that he could come on a different network, 'cause Comedy Central doesn't wanna pay him. That's g'd up.

i am 2 sided about this situation... i mean, it is just comedy, but i do feel that blacks are making fools of themselves in the process
we all love dave chapelle...but if u look at his audience, it is all white people... all of his comedy satirizes the black race and i dont like that.. not to mention, too many white people have said the word ni@@a on his show, and i dont respect him for that.
I like Dave Chappelle because he tells the truth. I think as far as the word **** goes coming from the whites, don't insult him for it. It is a satire. He wants to get a point across, not cause an uproar in the african american people. I'm not a ****, and neither are you. If you disagree with the whites using it, also state the fact that some blacks use the word everday. It's no different; a **** is a **** is a **** no matter if it is a white, black, or asian that speaks it.

I have noticed this too, and it is one of the reasons I don't watch his show.
How about this...
How about we cut these TV's off. Do you really care about the reality TV? Do you really care about the new video coming out? Doesn't it get repetitive. How much time do we waste hooked up to the tube. Turn off the TV and think for yourself. If you turn off the set then there is no more influence is there.
Television is mind supressive. In our natural minds we are creative. Television is stealing these creative abilities away. Television is also blasting thoughts in our brains that have really no purpose being there.
As far as black buffoonery it's pretty obvious. Black people get shytted on all over TV and movies. Look at the roles Halle and Denzel played to get their awards. A ****, and a Crooked Cop. Now that's not a good image of black people now is it?
