I'll begin this with an addendum: I am an only child. I live in New York. I attend the oh so fashionable Howard U. I keep a written inventory of all the clothing that I own, organized by color. I was raised to think that wearing a formal dress twice was dirty.
Hmm, I've got about 150 shirts, but only 100 that I actually wear and will be bringing back to school, about 45 pairs of pants/capris/ dresspants, but only about 30 that I will be bringing back to school, and about 40 skirts/dresses, lord knows how many I will be bringing back to Howard. About 35 pairs of shoes (clearly I need to step this up, but shoes shopping is so much more difficult that shopping for clothing)
What can I say, Salvation Army cleans up when I come around
Wow....I need to get some shopping tips from you.... I mean, I do aiight for myself.....but nothing like that.
I must say i do have a lot of clothes, but i'm a smart shopper. Plus clothes now days for females can be found cheap as hell. What gets me in trouble would be shoes, gotta have the cleanest ones. I won't dare say how many pair of shoes i have.

Come to New York and go to a sample sale. I've seen nice Banana Republic shirts for $5; I just got a leather and straw bag from them for $7 and my stepmother saw it for $60. Some sample sales have $150 premium denim on sale for $20. Woodbury Commons Outlet upstate is legendary. Century 21 has the best prices and selection hands down; people come to NY specifically to go there... it makes TJ Maxxx and Marshall's look like WalMart. New York is definitely a shopper's city. When I go to DC I'm hesitant to buy anything because I know that I could find it in NY for cheaper, and probably one in every color. The key is to be in the know about what sales are going on where... thats how all these New York socialites can afford their Manolo Blahnik heels and Chanel outfits... they go to sample sales where they buy their duds 90% off retail.

Thats how it is in Chicago too. I can keep up with my style while I am home, because you can get quality clothing at lower costs. There's more competition for clothing stores, and you can really create your own style.
But in Tallahassee............ you have really no choice but to shop at department stores, and everyone has all the same articles of clothing. And you pay twice as much for brands I normally wouldn't even buy.
Tallahassee needs a RAMPAGE and a BEBE... my two favorite stores.
I have enought summer clothes for right now but I usually buy at least one new outfit every week because I dont have that much stuff for the summer but I have to buy all new winter clothes because my stuff is in storage until our house is done so I have some shopping to do when school starts but there is no one to impress at school anways so my wardrobe will be very simple unless I am going out somewhere special

I know you speak the truth because the few times I've gone on shopping trips to New York I've gotten sooo much stuff of great quality and didn't spend two arms and a leg to accomplish such. Shopping here in DC really isn't that great, especially for a sistah like me who absolutely hates to fit into the norm....lookin' like somebody's dern carbon copy. :???:
Anyway, I just might have to take a trip to the NY before the summer ends so I can get right for this school year. 8-)
tax free weekend where?
and uhh i got 2 many damn clothes to actually count. so ill give a estimate. well i got about 20 pair of jeans damn near 50 shirts 10 button downs and a couple sweaters. i got every pair of jordans except 14-19 but i guess thats not every pair huh? lol i got about 3 pair of 1s and some chucks. i need to get some more dressy clothes and some suits....
u cool...14-19 dont count anyway
Pretty much, the 17's are tough tho..
they ok but how could i forget 1............ my 3rd fave too (after 11 and 3(yeah i like 3))
those would be the only ones i rock..the other colors are nasty...
and yeh, i dont f**k w/ 14-19 neither..when them 14s come out...im NOT gettin em.
for some reason i cant see them bringing back 14-20 like they did wit the earlier ones...they just dont seem "retro" enough for me
they bringing the 14s back out in september
Oh, im personally ready for the 10's
oh
I also motion to have a Fashion Fourm......so we can talk about sneakers and s**t......it would be popular.

I second that motion. It would also be a good way for incoming freshmen to get a heads up on what people are wearing at their respective schools because we all know what's cute at Sweet Valley High could be laughable at Negro University. Howard was just rated the #2 most fashionable university by Woman's Wear Daily. So clearly if a lady is coming here trying to be a fashion maven, Guess and American Eagle just isn't going to cut it.
Also please don't go to Canal looking for a Gucci bag or Louis bag. Fakes are tacky and a trained eye can spot one immediately. Canal is good for accessories, Indian slippers and perfumes.
Some people just don't care @ howard tho......they be wearin them fake **** jeans off them Georgia Ave. stores
Ain't nothin wrong with the shirts tho
