Yeah, it really is that crucial. I haven't watched any TV since September except for a little of Carrie before Halloween. I've known all along that I had to be on-campus for the premiere. The Dark Tower Project is co-hosting a viewing party so you know I'm gonna be there (even though I have more important stuff to not be doing).
I've downloaded every preview and trailer I could find, and I'll post all the links here in a minute. I was gonna take some of those cardboard ad thingies out of the MARTA trains to use as posters in my room, but they were all gone by Friday. I'd been trying to nab one since Monday and some stupid **** or top-flight security was always standing in front of them. :x
McGruder is just going after Black on Black crime.....
he points out why **** fight, why **** die....he is pointing out worthless fights in the club, Gangs and all types of stuff that isnt necessary
I got what he was trying to communicate. The problem to me is how he goes about it for a show that airs at 11pm on a Sunday with a majority young white audience. Although we may get it there are people in this country where this is their only exposure to black folk and i don't think they will. They probably will interpret it as how things are for our culture as a whole instead McGruder pointing out one small facet of everything.
Think about it... (especially those who have been up on the strip for the last 6+ years such as myself). In this show do you sense an overall positive portrayal of our people or a negative one?
I personally sense the latter. He does make comments about others but I've noticed the show focuses mainly on us unlike the strip which deals with politics and general things going on in current day.
Basically for a show where the majority is white it almost feels like its a way to exploit and air out our cultures dirty laundry and although it may help in some ways i still can't figure out if it helps more than it is detrimental.
Only time will tell. Its only been 4 shows and the rest of the season is left so we'll see where it goes from here. I wasn't feeling this episode in particular tho.

I would hope anybody who watches the show with grown minds knows that its more than just a cartoon and even if it was cartoons still play a major role in forming the minds and opinions of their target audience.
and i don't know what Morehouse was doing but Yousendit was fast as hell. I hit over a 1MB per second (the DL finished in 2:45 min).
