Whats up fellas. My school doesn't have a fraternity yet but I hope to transfer to Norfolk State University and join one. Now...whats the low down with them? What are they called? What did you have to do to get in one? Do you regret it? Do your "brothers" really have your back? LETS WORK PEOPLE!
OK, that "discretion is the key" crap is pretty lame. And no the low down isnt what you said...the low down is that fraternitys create (some) simple minded , arrogant fools such as yourself (pardon the name calling) who think that being a Greek (even when their Afro-American) is "the Shiiiiiiiyiiiit" and some BS secret society. I really dont want to join a greek frat, and no where did i say i did. If anything, any African org will do, being as thats what I am. Lets keep in mind that its just a friggin fraternity, not the secret service.
Okay...I wasn't gonna say anything......but I get hella offended when ignorant (uneducated...since he didn't know) people talk about things that they don't know anything about....I'm not a frat...but however I am GREEK...and Mr. the3rdosc...the reason we use greek names is not because we are in fact trying to be greeks, but because the greek writing system and philosophies connect with AFRICA...especially EGYPT...it was the Greeks that went to AFRICA and stole the writings.lifestyles, and philosophies of the Egyptians.........so therefore my brother....I proudly say I am GREEK...and being a part of DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY INC. has given me just as much honor pertaining to my African heritage as any other African Org (as you called it) would....Thank you and remember EDUCATION AND DISCRETION IS THE KEY!!!!
This probably the 50eleventh time I'm gonna say this..........
Discretion is the KEY.
He could have asked anyone in a PM. If he ain't know, I sure nuff mentioned that. Some people have helpful information to lend in discretion, 'hint hint'.
COSIGNS...I'm not Greek, but before I came to school, may kats told me discretion is the key...

People who have never read "Stolen Legacy" wouldn't understand why we decided to use Greek letters. If the young person knew the history of the oldest collegiate fraternity for blacks, he'd realize that the naming conventions were adopted to allow the groups to thrive on white campuses. However, there is meaning in the names of each of the organization and if you research a bit, you'd find out that the references and African imagery is so strong that the ONLY thing greek about most of our organizations is the name.

NOW that is a smart individual......glad somebody knows where i'm comin from....
Thanks for the compliment. Back in my day, Stolen Legacy, the Mis-education of the Negro, Souls of Black Folk and Invisible Man were required reading of pledge interests.
