TO PAPER OR NOT TO PAPER Posted on 05-19-2004
Soundcheck 1898

We all know hazing is "Illegal" (riiiiiight)... but still occurs anyway regardless of how watchful the eye is on big brother and whatever guidelines they have. However, every once in a while the the opportunity presents itself to some folk to go paper. Some do... some choose to work for theirs. I just want to here from those in any GLO, their feelings about the whole going paper scenario. Right now i'm semi-neutral because now that i'm on the other side I understand the whole not wanting to jeopardize getting your chapter kicked off the yard over somebody who complains plus the fact that this past semester was far from fun and i'm really not the type to want to pass that on to somebody else, however, i still feel people should work for their letters in some kind of way, feel me? What do you think?

Nope, it was yours as a matter of fact. All 85 of them. On their merry way. All signed papers. matter of fact, there was no option with those girls, they had to sign the papers. But im not even gonna get into that. i dont think any organization can actually say they dont have members who signed papers and werent on their merry way. Nobody is exempt from that

As for question two, the whole “paper” thing goes away, well it depends on the mindset of the people around you, it’s mighty hard to sit around with your LB’s/LS’s and talk about your “intake experience” when u aint really have one..
So you're saying that if you didn't get your **** beat, then you didn't have an experience? Please explain this for me, maybe I am misinterpreting
Yeah you are misinterpreting.... a lot, but it's cool. It really has nothing to do with being abused/ getting beat as you put it in your previous post. What I was talking about those moments that you have while one was on line for instance talking with your LB's/LS's about that time when the line had to sing the hymn while walking around like chickens (*not realistic but hell I just woke up so that’s what ya get...)
tru

to be honest with you, I dont see what these "honorary" members bring to these organizations other than so-n-so belongs to such-n-such organization, and to me...someone donating a large sum of money and getting the same rights and priviledges to my organization that I "donated" my precious time, health (physical and mental), blood sweat and tears, ain't on my level...I dont give a flying f*ck who it is...for real for real. I can't stand when bruhz be star struck when they find out such-n-such is a member (I've been guilty of it myself a few times...had to check myself). But to each his own I guess. I don't f*ck with it but it goes down so all I can do is live with it...ah well
u sound like my ex who is a que. He doesnt claim the honorary either. I dont see their purpose really. My ex told me just to recruit. Im sorry, im not using my members who are famous or have high positions to recruit. If u want Zeta, then you will join regardless of the fact. I heard the Alphas gave Frederick Douglass honorary membership after he was ****

Uh huh. u act like it actually takes a rocket scientist to figure out that they signed papers and did nothing. Plus, my friend told me she doesnt see why she should have to get beat to be in AKA and she's glad she came in the way she did. Of course i gave her the  look b/c she doesnt understand. but thats how she chose to come in and this is how i chose to come in. Its still all love. But to say that nobody in any organization signs papers and is on their merry way is kinda dumb to me. if im misinterpreting your ?, then excuse the reply. There's skaters in every organization and after they get their letters, some dont even come around anymore. Thats why im glad my chapter tries to be a little choosy picking our girls and we try n get to know them. We dont just choose whoever applies or whoevers mother is a Zeta

I'll wait until Willie or somebody else comes along to explain why that is because its not really my business to explain but during rush it was explained to us and made sense to me. (***BTW at Morehouse we have a mass rush with all the fraternities in one room where they present then everybody breaks out to their respective org they are interested in afterwards... just pointing that out because different schools do it differently).

Thats really interesting, because that doesn't happen at HU.....and I've never seen a sign for "rush" for fraternities at HU. Different schools do it differently.
