I'd suggest to take everything you need and if you end up not needing it, send it back with your folks...or keep it with you, take it back to the store and keep the money. Some people rationalize that "I don't have the room in my car to take it all so I gotta buy it once I get there" The only fault in that is, What are you gonna do when it's time to go home at the end of the semester/year and you have more stuff than what you brought?
