Would you let someone close to you wear your nalia if.... Posted on 11-05-2006

...they really needed it? This is a true story that happend to me... I was driving my mothers car to the store and I got caught in a bad thunderstorm. I didnt have an umbrella and it was POURING down raining outside. My mom keeps a Delta Sigma Theta umbrella in her car. (clearly Im not a Delta because I am a male). Anyway, I said fukk it and I took the umbrella with me inside the store. Personally I didnt think it was a big deal...but hey, thats just me. Would you let someone real close to you wear/use your nalia if they really needed it? Like if you have on your frat jacket and your girlfriend gets cold, would you let her wear it to keep warm? Or if a friend needs to go out in the rain but doesnt have an umbrella would you let them use yours even though it clearly has letters on it and they are not a member of that organization?

I'm Not Greek But If I Was I Dont Think That I Would Let Anyone Outside Of The Organization Wear The Letters No Matter The Situation. It Would Seriously Be Life Or Death And Getting Wet Or Being Cold Not One. If Your Cold Turn Off The Air Or Lets Go Somewhere Warm If You Get Stuck In The Rain What Untill Its Over Or Go Out In The Rain And Dry Off Later. Its Not Only The Fact That I Would Have A Problem With It I Feel That It May Offend Someone Else Who Apart Of The Organization To See Another Person Rocking The Letter In Which They've Worked So Hard For. To Me Its Just A Sign Of Disrepect.

I know what you were answering. It was kind of confusing at first but I grasped an understanding after rereading it.

Dude, if you go and reread my post I didn't say anything about letting anyone wear my "Greek" paraphernalia. The guy Gatekeeper asked what I would do if I saw someone using a Heroines of Jericho umbrella. How about most people do not know the true meaning of the Greek organizations! Most people have a misunderstanding of what the purpose of the Greek stuff is, including those that have been in these organizations for years. Pledging or getting hazed doesn't make you a knowledgeable person, if anything it makes you out to be a big fool for participating in it. It isn't even about wearing paraphernalia, it has a higher purpose that many fail to understand. Since you started this silly thread it makes me wonder if you even know what the true meaning or purpose of this stuff. Besides, what are you? You haven't ever stated what Fraternity you belong to, but I always see you posting stupid stuff in these Greek forums. So what are you? Another thing, yeah I guess I will be paper pledging. Not everyone is blessed to have a family member that is a President of a Graduate Chapter. Does it anger you that my way into the BGLO will be a breeze and without all the foolishness? Interesting!
Spoken like a true idiot! First, it dont matter what org I'm in. I dont answer to GDI's, so of course you wont get a response to that question. Secondly, I could care less if your road to Greekdom is easy or hard. If you choose to be paper, and you obviously do, then thats your business. But if you want respect from REAL greeks, dont hold your breath...you will certainly die waiting.

Actually, you appear to be a village idiot! I don't believe that you belong to any organization. Also, you appear to be very childish. For one thing, I do not care about having some Greek's respecting me because I respect myself number one! How about those people don't respect or love themselves if they let someone degrade them, all because they feel they have to be validated by being hazed. You know what, why am I even gracing you with my wisdom? You are a person that has a herd mentality and do not think for yourself anyway. I've noticed that a lot of Greeks have the herd mentality syndrome. They believe everything that someone else tells them without questioning a thing. Why am I giving dogs what is sacred? My level of thinking might be too much for some people's imprudent thinking. So on that note, I'm going to quit responding to your stupidity!

I didn't say that I would be nonchalant but I wouldn't act like you said you would do, slipping folks your number and going off. In this day and age folks aren't giving a darn about what Greek letters you are representing. I hope you aren't living in Jackson, MS talking that mess. You might get yourself shot approaching folks you don't know anything about. I bet no one will say anything to those thugs in Jackson about anything. You are a fool if you do. Actually, this guy got shot at Jackson State University over some Greek stuff. It was this local that came on campus and sat on the Omega's benches. One of the Omega's call himself trying to go for bad and tried to fight him and the guy pulled out a gun and shot him. I'm sure that guy who was shot was crying out to Jesus and realized that Greek stuff wasn't worth losing his life over. The stuff you are talking about I can see a Neo talking like that, but you are too old to be talking as you do. ( I assumed you are older since you are married.) I guess some people never mature. When folks become grown you leave childish ways behind. All the men in my family are Greek and I don't ever hear them talking about approaching someone if they were wearing their paraphernalia. My father, brother-in-law, and uncle's could care less about that type of stuff. They have been in these organizations for years and they just don't act the way you do about it.
If you look on your license plates I believe it says The Magnolia State!!! but you are correct that i'm not from Mississippi I'm actually from Chicago but being the fact that I spent 4 years in undergrad and another 2 years in grad School I think I know that Mississippi Nickname is the Magnolia State!!! Also I forgot to mentioned that I'm MARRIED to a woman from Mississippi so If you are from Mississippi ask somebody who has Mississippi tags to look on the back of it and tell you what it says!! I guarantee you those license plates say the Magnolia State!!! And to Answer your question no I didn't stay in Jackson and no I didn't here about what happened to the Omegas!! But I being an Ancient Free & Accepted Mason got into with some Prince Hall Masons in Jackson!! They belong to the Stringer Grand Lodge in which if you are from Jackson I heard that it was right behind the Campus!! I was in town when Mississippi Valley State University played Jackson State University and we was outside in the parking lot having a conversation when things got really heated almost to the point of a fist fight and it was three of them and one of me,but I said that because I don't know what your Heroine of Jericho's obligation is but just like I promised and swear that I would love honor and cherish my wife I also promised and swear that I would do certain things for my organizations and no i;m not putting these organizations up there with my marriage but I take them just as serious. If you wasn't serious about upholding yours and all that then maybe you shouldn't have did Heroine's of Jericho!!! In my old Jurisdiction the Heroine's needed a Joshua, and they asked me todo it but I didn't because I wouldn't had the time! But i'm glad I didn't do it because you are making the Heroine's look bad!! You mentioned that all the men in your family are greek and they are older so they really don't care!! Well that's on them if they don't care about GDI'S wearing their apparel than that's on them, but you can't say that when folks become grown they leave childish things behind because I have a frat brother in my Grad Chapter who pledged and I can say pledged because he pledged in 1947 and he is still real about his!!! He and his cain does not play! especially when it comes to the frat. I really don't care if you are Greek or not greek Paper or not Paper it's about respect and taking your obligations seriousily. I'm in the Federal Law Enforcement field and in my duties I deal with the public alot and in my dealings I have came upon guys who had rings and shirts on who claimed to be FreeMason's and after further examination some of them broke down and said that they wasn't but they found their dad's or somebody's book and read it and they thought that it would be sufficient enough for them to pass as a Mason! So after they had told me the truth I asked them to take whatever apparel they had on off! I didn't take it but I ask them to take it off, and I would talk to these Kats about what it means to be a Freemason and if they wan't it then they need to go out and Ask One To Be One and stop faking the funk, and some of these guys took what I said to heart and is now brother's and some didn't but I told all of them the consequences of them perpetrating! I'm sorry to be rambling on about this but the more I type the more I think of stuff!!!I didn't mean to offend you SMC112 but like I said I take this conversation very serious!!!

HERE COMES SHAWTY's Opinion:
I think this whole arguement or misunderstanding or watever the hell it is is over rated and unneccesary....... all in all u cant talk about something you havent first handedly ( doubt thats a word) experienced so anyone who hasnt traveled down that path sorry to say but your opinion is invalid including myself in this whole thing of wearing nalia and letting it be used by someone else. From my understanding people value certian things differently "what is a joke to u may be death for another person" meaning something you may believe is so simple or not that serious may be very critical and complex to another due to the difference in experience and value, and at the same time i dont see the point in putting religion or marriage in the mix due to the fact that anyones relationship with God can not be compared to anything else and the love one has for God is a totally different love or devotion they can feel for any organization.... but newayz u guys can continue to argue ill just watch lol but i must say its very interesting and pointless at the same time, but i already know whos in the right.

Yeah, it is the Magnolia State but people call it the Hospitality State because most people are hospitable in Mississippi. I'm sure if you go to other places you won't receive the welcoming attitude that Mississippian's give! So now when you go somewhere else you can tell folks that, "I'm from the Hospitality State of Mississippi!" LOL WOW.. you actually got into an altercation with some other Masons. That is hilarious! It must have been with some younger Masons because the older men do not operate like that. How am I making the Heroines look bad? I took oaths as you did, but in my oaths there wasn't anything about me fighting individuals and getting into arguments with people because of the organization. If I stand correctly, the Heroines of Jericho is a Christian organization. The oaths that I took were to be an example of Jesus in all of my ways. So to get in an altercation with people is not what I took an oath to do. I don't know what they made you take an oath for but obviously it is different from mine. Also, when I said that my family members do not care about GDI's wearing their paraphernalia, I probably should have said that they don't get involved in frivilous things. Actually, the men in my family are more concerned about pleasing the Lord and doing what's right in his eyes. They aren't concerned so much about defending any organization, their concern is about upholding the morals and character that God has called them to. They are about the Father's business. What you said about those young men wearing Mason paraphernalia and reading the Mason book was wrong. You should have corrected them but I hope that it was in a nice manner. You don't want to set a bad example or put a bad taste in folks mouth by being mean. Those young guys were probably naive to the things they shouldn't do.
