In a time where the majority of music is computer generated and beats are reused and recycled, I find go go to be refreshing in a sense. And I don't just like go go because i'm from DC. I actually used to hate it, but then after I started listenin to it because of a project I was doin it started to grow on me. I think that unless you've been to a live performance you really can't say you hate it b/c listenin to a go go tape or cd is def. not the same as listenin to it live. Like Rod said, there really is an energy like no other that is in the air when at a live go go performance.
As a DC head for life. I will maintain that your favorite songs would be alot better as a gogo cover for example:
Make dat **** clap by Project Pat and Juvie (TCB **** it)
**** Passion by Tupac (Back **** it)
Sweet Thing by Mary J ( Back **** it again wit Lysette on the vocals)
Pieces of Me by Ashlee Simpson (Rare Essense **** it)
Drop it like its hot remix (My boys UCB MURDERED IT)
Just a Man by Raphael Saddiq and Devin The Dude (Another joint Back ****)
Pimpin All Over The World (Rare Essence **** it)
One Thing by Amerie (Already a damn gogo song)
Come on now even Jay-Z stole the lines from Overnight Senario.
I swear you go to a live gogo its like no other. First they start you off with somethin smooth or slow. A nice lil socket beat or somethin. You know somethin to get you to start feeling the music. Get the crowd swayin a lil bit. Then they might go into a popular radio song as a cover over a gogo beat. So you kno you start to feel it more cuz you can sing along wit the song but its over a gogo beat so the music hypin you up. Then its like all hell breaks loose. The band just starts "crankin" (DC term for when the music is just straight hype). Thats when u music really moves you. I swear its like you cant control yaself in there.
Man its just wild
^^^ Like rod said, you gotta hear Gogo live to really enjoy it...And maybe thats tru...Maybe if I heard it live I would like it, but when I hear the cds and ish I really dont be feelin it.
I dunno maybe that's the case then. B/c when I heard it for the first time I was like what the hell is this? It might grow on me when I get to NC. I felt the same way about club music when I moved to NJ and it grew on me too.

You cant even really get a feel for it unless u listenin to the cd straight thru from Track 1 anyway. Cuz alot of DC heads would go straight to a thier favorite track and can groove wit it. People who dont listen to gogo gotta hear the transitions and shyt
TCB's "Make That **** Clap" is like a Go-Go haters revelation. That mess is so crunk!!!!
cosign! i swear i started beating my feet...aint even kno what i was doing...lol naw but i actually like go-go, but its not something i would sit and listen to, it would have to be a few songs in a club or something.
