The sad part about all of this is all of the damn looters who are taking what's left...

Can't be mad at the looters, at least the ones taking neccessities. If you struggling to survive, you gotta do what you gotta do. Now electronics, jewelry, and stuff like that is different. But the stuff I need to survive, absolutely, no question.
so i assume all the universitys in NO are tarnished? or are going to be closed for a good few weeks.
Right now...N.O. schools are out til December. (I'd just transfer or somethin) They have to get power, which is gonna take months.
I'm at LSU, in Baton Rouge, and we've been out since Monday and don't go back til Tuesday. Luckily, LSU has their own power system because we never lost power on campus.
Last night, a friend of mine from N.O. was really sad/upset b/c she was talking to her mom(her fam. evacuated to Dallas) and her mom was saying how they're not gonna open up the bridge. Meaning, they're just gonna let N.O. naturally go back to being a river or somethin like that. Which means the city would be buried under water. That's really sad. Supposedly, it would save a lot of money if they were to let that happen.

yeah I heard the same thing...it will cost too much to rebuild that entire city. Most of the levees surrounding the city have failed, and they would have to repair them...and even if they do, they still have to pump the water out. And by the time they do that, it will be around christmas. And even then, most of the buildings have sustained some structural damage. So yeah they're talkin about not rebuilding there...right now tho they'e evacuating the rest of the city since it's all about to be under water. So all those people who left...they're not gonna be able to return to NO anytime soon. They might as well just look for another city to live in. It's really sad man...

Damn man. Stuff like this is what makes me appreciate what I got man. The other day I was complaining to myself about how I'm SO ready to move out and on with my life away from home or whatever....
This type of stuff really puts things in perspective. It's a crying shame that so many people are suffering like this because of a natural disaster. I really feel bad now, seeing as how when I started this thread I named it "Goodbye New Orleans", now it may be a very real possibility. All of the loss of life, jobs, homes, and basically the whole city...it's got me a little shook up for real.
The people who I really feel sorry for are the poor/less fortunate folks who dont know what they're going to do. :sad:

If you spend the majority of your life making a living for yourself in New Orleans and the gulf coast and lose basically everything u have worked for, you are gonna be ****. Sure you are gonna be happy at the fact that you are still alive but damn...what do you have left? Everything you worked for is GONE. You spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a house and a car and you wouldnt be upset at that??? I didnt say ONCE that she wasnt happy that she was alive so to come and say she should be happy she's alive and blah blah blah is highly uncompassionate. I live in MS, I know whats going on. The STATE is running out of gas and electricity. We have to stop ALL of our football games because of the storm because noone has gas to even come to play us or vice versa. Millions of people in New Orleans have no where else to go. Sure, your life is something but damn, where the hell are u gonna go now? What are you gonna do? Most Insurance companies now adays dont even covor full weather damage and if they do please tell me the name of the company!!!!! She spent ALOT of money on her wedding and I would be **** off too! How can you insure a wedding? She can't get her 10-20k back. Thats money she lost that she could have used to help rebuild her home or get clothes or something. You have familes to provide for but they are sad because they have no home, therefore they have no sense? To state something like that man... Hmmmm how do you think u are looking???

Ummmmmmmmm Yeah I feel for all those peopel.......but y'all aint talkin right......they would lose money if they DONT fix the levees........the ENTIRE city aint DESTROYED........given that once they fix the levees and REinforce them......the actual pumping out after they get the power back on.......it could take over 2 MONTHS 2 pump all tha water out.........but it still will be DUMB 2 not fix the little damage that has occurred......New Orleans brings MILLIONS upon MILLIONS to Louisiana each year.....and they NEED that money 2 bring the state back 2 life and KEEP it that way........
