What's So Great About HBCU's Anyway? Posted on 04-14-2005

This is my question. I hear all kind of people lauding the HBCU experience and seem utterly enraptured with the idea that they will be able to spend the four years of their undergraduate experience with people who share their same ethnic background. 1st question: Is this at all representative of real life? From my personal experience I have found that we, or at least in the upwardly socio-economic realm that you high achieving and socially conscious African-American (predominantly) hope to take part in, live in a white world. How will an HBCU where you will be surrounded by people like you and taught be professors like you be at all representative of real life? Or at least the one you hope to be living? My 2nd question involves personal and academic preference. I have been accepted into a number of Universities and can go anywhere I want. So what would make me want to attend a HBCU rather than a more traditional Ivy League school or one of its equivalents when my goals is to become as educated as possible and subsequently be the most qualified for any future position or work that I would like to pursue. Furthermore, how diverse can an HBCU be and how much can you learn about other cultures/environments when you are surrounded my only one megaculture?

You should already be well versed in dealing with real life idiots, I mean you see yourself in the mirror every morning. And I dont mess up just to mess with you, I mess up becuase I have more important things to worry about than spelling. If you read my posts instead of spell checking them, you might understand. And I hope you do give me a welcome party so I could beat your *ss in person. That is the way you like it right? I mean all the verbal abuse you set yourself up for on here makes it seem that you really are interested in getting it rough.

Look, ****, I was responding to the post above you though my comments concerning my intellectual superiority do apply to you as well. And what in my post imply that I don’t know what a commonly used and otherwise pedestrian term as “polarization”? Do you really think that you figured out a word all by yourself? Do you want a cookie? And you did betray your attempt at intelligence as was obvious through your inability to command said diction (superlative, polarization, dissention) I think you should put the thesaurus down and step away slowly go back to 4 letter words. More than 2 syllables you make yourself seem even dumber. The storm is over son. There is no more lightning and certainly no thunder. Find something new. You can be rabbit2 or something.

WelcomeWagon++; Why? Why? Why? It doesn't make any sense. The more I try to make sense of it, the more bizarre it gets. The waters are getting too deep, and they're turning to feces. Hmm...

Are you aware that you share the IQ with black people’s stereotypically favorite bird? Syntax? What are you talking about? Simply because I have the capability and the aptitude to command the English language (better than you I might add) and often use compound-complex sentence structures does not belie incorrect syntax. Go back to 11th grade and retake AP English Language and Composition. Try reading the textbook this time. Maybe you’ll pass and stop making inaccurate assumptions about my sentence structure.

How stupid can you get? You keep talking about syntax when you mean diction? And what is that sentence about "The level of which one can command is the importance of it. " Grammatically incorrect. Nobody needs the dictionary to understand your words, except maybe you. Were did you find them? You surely need a dictionary to get those words out. Diction = Word Choice Syntax = Sentence Structure You = Learn the Difference

You need to learn when to admit you're wrong. I'm smarter than you are. You are going to keep defending your inaccurate definition of syntax. Go black to sleep.
