you know i've never seen a light skinned Black girl with long hair it was always weave akatude is the stereotypical aka only i'm not sure if that's her hair but anyways now anyone who is into reading should read some old book that actually documented aka's and their color struck inutations they WERE actually color struck and if you were not light enough you didn't get in i thought that was interesting because a myth came out to be TRUE of course it's different NOW but to KNOW that your org WAS discriminatory like that has to make u feel bad poor aka's

Okay... ya'll are some truly lame individuals and have taken this to another level that isn't necessary. Who cares. This thread is old and the only people that get offended by such comments are real dark skinned folks. Whether you like it or not that stuff will always exist in our culture. Even though it is unfair, that is the way it is. The AKA organization was founded by the black elite's and they are obsessed with skin color, and the comments that I said was just speaking the truth. There are just as many dark skinned AKA's that know that they weren't originally supposed to be one (by the black elite's standards), and they get in there and reject a lot of light skinned girls. That happens alot. So anyway tough cookies if you got offended.

Wow are we resorting to name calling and Im lame? There was definately no need for that. But, Im not "real dark-skinned" in any way shape or form and I was offended, so I guess that proves your theory wrong. But oh well, I respect your opinion either way.

wow i can't believe some of the things im hearing people who are supposedly educated say...its sad lol and funny and i wonder what u consider "really dark" because i am definately offended and am not "really dark" however i do consider my self brown skinned and am DARKER THAN A PAPER BAG and i also find it sad and ignorant 4 u to say that someone is not "supposed" to be an aka because of their color when im sure the founders would not appreciate u saying more or less that is all they were about due to the fact that is definately not what their values are based on

Oh, the founders were on some shallow stuff. The founders were from the upper class black elite and they are worse than white folks when it comes to judging someone based on skin color and what type of background you come from. So if you want to talk about the founders of AKA and their views, a lot of girls that are AKA's now, wouldn't be. For one thing, a lot of the girls do not even come from a wealthy background. Back in the day, your folks had to be a third or fourth generation of wealth and from a two parent household. So if you want to bring up what the AKA founder's values were, you might want to do a little research on your organization. Those women were very shallow, and that is probably one of the reasons that they had the big split and Delta was formed. Why do you think AKA's have those silly mantras now: holding a mirror, chanting that I'm conceited, shaking my long pretty hair, etc.. because that stuff was passed down from the founders. That silly stuff was not born over night, it has been passed down. When they say there's a spirit of AKA, there's a spirit all right, a evil one. If you were offended by my comments, you are being really sensitive because your feelings would really be hurt if you found out how the upper class blacks talk, who started these orgs. P.S. You know what, I just realized that you aren't even a AKA. LOL I thought you were one by your screen name, and when I saw age 18 I"m like, "why am I sitting here wasting time arguing with a child." LOL You might want to change your screen name because " Truly Sophisticated Pearl" sounds like a screen name a AKA would have chosen. So disregard what I said about you researching your organization. LOL

i dunno maybe u shouldnt be wasting ur time arguing with me b/c im not gonna waste my time arguing with you...i didnt even read ur whole post !!! lol but seems like u do a lotta that on here but newho i DID NOT SAY their founders didnt do that kind of stuff i was simply saying that is NOT ALL THE AKAS STAND FOR so i think it is wrong for ppl to say things like that...no i am not an AKA i am on a step team named the wilson pearls motto:motivated dedicated and sophisticated started by AKAs. However, i in no shape or form think i am an aka and u kno i agree with u i thought about changing my screen name not b/c of u but b/c it is not meant to disrespect anyone . i also do not know everything about the AKAs but i have plently of family members and friends that belong to the first family (aka, aphi a) so i do kno a lil you have a nice day b/c like u said this is an old thread an i was simply adding my opinion ...not against the law and im done w/ the situation

Okay, go back and read your first reply. You did say the founders didn't stand for that or that their values wasn't based on that. HA HA HA That's hilarious. Do the research on AKA, and you will find out how vicious those ladies where. They were big on the color of skin and very exclusive about who they let in their org. Those founders were some mean spirited women. You wouldn't know that by the way they paint the picture as if the founders were about serving mankind, those women were a bunch of hell raisers and kept up a bunch of mess. That is why the women who started Delta had to split and start their own org. Those girls are the same way to this day. AKA's aren't friendly women. There are very few that are actually nice compared to the mean ones. Anyway, like you said this is an old thread and have a nice day!
