Anyway.. outside of the above I encourage everybody to contribute to their relief effort in some kind of way. Whether it be monetary contributions, man power, or prayer. I ask that everybody do something to help.

No Thunder... i'm not Bush bashing but this did happen under his administration and facts show that his administration could have handled this differently. We are focused way too much on International affairs than our own domestic issues. Its not an issue of Republican vs. Democrats. We just need to focus more on our own internal issues regardless of who's in office.
Let the church say AMEN! He's the PRESIDENT OF THE ***UNITED STATES OF AMERICA***. The NATIONAL (not INTERnational) Guardsmen dealing with Iraq could've been here to help take care of AMERICA when something like this happened. Too bad it happened when it did. You cannot prevent a natural disaster, but you can have your priorities in enough order to recover from them if they take place.

What is he supposed to DO? Send the National Guard back here? It takes MONTHS to do that! And what about the rest of the soldiers out there? Leave hem without any sort of protection such as, road blocks, insurgent quartined areas, patrols? Did you forget about the massive amounts of money that people, such as yourself, told Bush to send overseas to help **** victims? Did you FORGET that? Do yourself a favor and look at where that money came from. Are they supposed to put aside monies specifically for New Orleans for something that may have happened in or around 10 years? And NY for ****attacks, not to mention San Francisco for Earthquakes? Yeah, and Kennedy could have handled Cuba differently. There are a ton of underlying circumstances here, and the stance of what he is not doing is full of holes; the stance you are taking. It's not that he's not doing anything, it's that we don't have the FUNDS to do anything immediately. So are you going to blame him for the war,and how his precognition allowed him to see the impending doom of N.O. and he went to war regardless? I bash Bush for fun plenty, and I do also believe that we are too deep in International affairs for our own good. But you know, complaining about it doesn't do a damned thing. Not one. Intellectuals don't exacerbate the problem, they solve it.

Basically... so f!@# all of the above (including what i said), whats done is done. I take this opportunity to encourage people to help out in some form or fashion once again, however, small it is. For the record (although i'm sure most of the above isn't directed to me and you are speaking in general)... in a nutshell all i'm saying is that the United States government (not just the Bush administration or just Bush saw it coming), saw it coming and it could have been handled differently although there isn't too much that they could have done differently, but it would have been the difference of a couple of 1000 lives and chaos. That it. The Bush administration just happens to be who is in office now (although i personally do not think to highly of them). but enough talk on my part... Who's gonna do something? thunder is right about people sittin on their computers complaining. "Those who complain how the ball bounces are often the ones who dropped it. " ~Unkown If you aren't doing anything about the situation you have no grounds to voice your frustrations.

I donated a portion to help funding for refugees and/or those who are trapped in New Orleans. You can donate by calling the Red Cross at 1-800-Help-Now or go to www.redcross.org.

Hey DR. ASH DO U KNO WHAT THE LINK IS TO IT BECAUSE I CANT FIND IT.... AND KAMI DO U KNO IF ANYONE WHO ACTUALLY STAYED? I FEEL LIKE I JUST HAVE A MASSIVE HEADACHE BUT MY MOM IS TALKING TO A BUNCH OF SCHOOLS THAT R WILLING TO TAKE IN STUDENTS FROM THE GULF AREA AND THEYRE CALLING THE HOUSE AND IM LIKE CAN I AT LEAST HAVE A DAY TO RELAX AND ABSORB WHAT IS HAPPENING BEFORE I START PLANNING THE REST OF MY SEMESTER? I MEAN YES I KNO I HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE AND VA DOES HAVE SOME PRETTY GOOD SCHOOLS BUT NO ONE IN MY HOUSE REALLY UNDERSTANDS WHAT I FEELING RIGHT NOW.... BUT I THINK ILL BE OK ONCE THIS WEEK IS OVER!
Hey Tiffini, actually i know a few people that stayed, Rachels roommate is one of them. Right now they are being bused to Southern or Gramblin University. Umm right now i'm just sick of watching CNN, you cant get away from it. Of course people want their news but its just so depressing. I want to go back too Xavier so bad. I feel you on the school thing. I went to Fisk today, and have to go back tomorrow. The thing is money. I'm trying to go to school and have to pay no money. Some colleges are allowing students to go there and will just take the money the students have already paid for the college they were supposed to be attending. It is really hectic because you dont want to fall behind but you also need time to recooperate. I just went to some stores today, might as well start buying clothes, because my three outfits are running pretty low.

Whatever lies they are feeding you about Xavier reopening soon, don't buy into it. Plan otherwise. Their intentions are good, but it will take atleast 4-5 months to clean that school up and pass inspections.

No one ever said that Xavier is going to reopen soon, thats why we are looking at other schools to attend. We know that it's highly unlikely for us to go back to Xavier anytime this year.

And why in tha BLUE f**k are these Media **** calling them REFUGEES!?!?!?!?!?! These people are not REFUGEES!!!!
Do you even know what refugee means? It just means someone in search of refuge (which is protection or shelter, as from danger or hardship). Isn't that what they are? Yes it is. The problem you think refugee is a derogatory term, but it's really not.
