Can I get anything out of anywhere on the Internet and post it with attribution, or is it regulated. If it was print, I would have to get permission, how does that work on the Internet?

no it's not regulated, but it's a matter of courtesy; if it's off someone's personal website, it would be nice to leave some sort of credit or recognition.... but it depends on what you're talking about. you'd treat an image differently than an article.
