I got my letter from Spelman about 2 days ago saying that they were not able to offer me admission at this time.... I am very disappointed, because that was my first choice. The letter basically said that they had a lot of applicants and that there was not enough room for me, but they encouraged me to apply as a transfer next year......
Looks like I'm going to Hofstra University in New York, which is not an HBCU. I think I would be more comfortable @ an HBCU, which is why I really wanted to go to Spelman, although I only applied to 2 HBCUs.
Has anyone else gotten rejected from the schools they really wanted to go to??
don't feel so bad. I got rejected from Clark. I kind of felt it coming but it still crushed me like a ton of bricks. It was my first choice but i'm gonna transfer in 2 years so........eventually i'llget there. To DSU it is...........
Aww thanks guys. I'm seventeen, and I plan on transferring there later, but I'll just have to see how I like Hofstra.
And hopefully we will both get lucky 'BmoresBeauty' and get into Clark and Spelman in a couple of years.
Don't feel bad. I was rejected from Howard when I applied when I was a senior in high school. Howard was my first choice and everything. But, now I'm a freshman in college finishing off my first year at a community college. I applied to Howard again and I was accepted! So in the fall I will be transferring there. I think if you really want to go to Spelman... go to Spelman. Apply again for fall of 2008 and see what happens. Where there's a will there's a way.

As a Howard University alum, I can truly say that you are the type of student who will succeed. Clearly you are a dedicated and focused individual.
Congratulations on your acceptance and good luck!
