Some of these companies are no surprise, but others I was a little shocked. It's sad that w/ all the money these companies are making they can't seem to find the budget for good customer service.

They can. It's just that some people don't care. In such big companies, u may have people who figured they have job secuirty cause the company is so big .
I 've seen it. Hell, I work at Comcast. I gets customers who tell me everyday that someone (before they get me), has gotten LOUSY customer service.
However, I've also learned the most important thing: The customers is always right.....IF IT'S WITHIN REASON. Some people figure that just just because they pay for a service, they can abuse the system of that service.
So, it's a two-way street.
It's really a combination of things. Companies are looking to pay the Customer Support department as little as possible and as a result they are missing out on great candidates that are demanding proper compensation. Unless your company is B2B, I do not see why there is not more emphasis and regard placed on this departmend that kinda works as your PR agent to the world.
