Da Cross, GA
During his performance at Virginia Tech's memorial concert yesterday (September 6),
Nas
responded to
****'s
criticism of his lyrics and the campus' decision to include the Queens bred rapper to the event. **** recently referred to
Nas as a "gangster rapper" during his Fox show, "The **** Factor," and played clips from the rapper's songs where he rapped about guns. The infamous commentator would also call Virgina Tech's choice to let Nas to perform, "disturbing.
" According to
The Roanoke Times
, Nas expressed his views about **** during the concert Thursday, which also featured performances from
John Mayer
and
The Dave Matthews Band
. "To all those people who don't know what Nas is about, like this chump ****," Nas told the crowd. "I said that chump ****. They can't stop us, Virginia Tech. They cannot stop us." Earlier this year,
Seung Hui-Cho
, a Virginia Tech student, opened fire on students and staff members on campus killing 32 people and then committing ****.
After the announcement of the memorial concert, several families of the victims also expressed concern over Nas' scheduled appearance
.
Controversy surrounding the Virginia Tech concert was
one of the major reasons a
Canadian concert, which was slated to feature Nas, was cancelled last month
.The venue agreed to hold the event and backed out because they believe Nas' lyrics promote ****. In related news, Nas is currently gearing up for the release of his
Greatest Hits
album which will be issued via his former label,
Columbia Records
. The set will hit shelves in November and will include twelve songs from his eight solo albums and two new songs including "Less Than An Hour," a collaboration with
Gnarls Barkley's Cee-Lo Green
.
