SCHOLARSHIP FOR BLACK STUDENTS Posted on 06-08-2004
La

My deacon told me of this site that offers scholarships and job opportunities for black students. I think thats why most of us originally came to HBCU-Central...for the scholarship...but that was fake, lol. Anyhow...yall should check out the site www.blackstudents.com There is a lot of information you may find useful. I am posting this scholarship I found on there cause all you have to do is write an essay. Your gpa, test scores, none of that stuff is needed. Oh yeah, I know a few people who are on here dont attend HBCU's. You are still eligible for the scholarship as long as you have a black parent. So here is the information in case anyone is interested. BlackStudents.com $1,000 Scholarship Essay Contest BlackStudents.com is offering a $1,000 scholarship award to an African-American student. The scholarship is NOT an academic scholarship - It is NOT based on your grades or on your community activities. It is entirely based on an essay submission. Who's Eligible To Apply? To be eligible for the scholarship award, one or both of your parents must be African-American. You must live in the United States, and attend or plan to attend a school in the United States. The institution you choose can be any trade school, college, or university. How Do I Apply? There are just two steps involved. There is no application involved. 1) If you haven't already, you must subscribe to BlackStudents.com - It's 100% free, and we will email you weekly opportunities designed for African-American students. 2) After you register with BlackStudents.com, you have until July 31, 2004 to submit an 800-1000 word essay on why you think more African-Americans now than ever are earning college degrees. All submissions must be emailed to scholarship@blackstudents.com and the subject of the email must be "SCHOLARSHIP ENTRY". Do NOT email your essay as an attachment. Your essay must be within the body of the email along with your name and contact info. If you do not follow these instructions precisely, your essay will not be accepted! How and When Will The Winner Be Chosen? We will review all submissions and select a final candidate based on the quality, uniqueness, and creativity of the content in your essay. On August 15, 2004, one winner will be awarded $1,000. The check will be written out to the institution you attend or will be attending. How Do I Submit Questions About The Scholarship? For questions not answered on this page, you MUST email us at support@blackstudents.com -- DO NOT EMAIL US QUESTIONS THAT ARE ALREADY ANSWERED ON THIS PAGE. Can You Help Me With My Student Loans? Actually, we can. This, however, involves no essay or competition. We recently partnered with FinancialAssistance.org, a FREE government program that can help lower your monthly payments by up to 60%. For more details, visit - www.FinancialAssistance.org
