Eco-tourism? Posted on 10-17-2007

Has anyone here heard of ecotourism? It's a growing trend where you travel to experience nature... the whole idea is that your trip has minimal impact on the environment. It's very big in South America and Africa. Also, another derivation is where you spend a couple weeks volunteering, Peace Corps-style, with disadvantaged people somewhere in the world. Would any of you consider doing this? Why or why not? There's definitely times where I want to spend my vacation in a comfortable place, not working, but it sounds like something interesting to try.

Nah, I haven't heard of it but if I can do something like this and maintain my normal level of hygiene at the same time, then I'd do it. I can't be funky on the account of "going green". They say, cleanliness is next to godliness! And I'm tryin to get next to The Big Fella in the end! I could see myself using a week of vacation to help disadvantaged people. I was going to take a week to go down to New Orleans with my church to help in that recovery but I ended up moving before they went.

LOL I think this is something for people with a lot of time on their hands. Until I reach that point, I'll take a resort in the Bahamas anyday An interesting idea, though.
