Come & welcome meee! Posted on 04-03-2008
MissIndia

Hey everyone! I'm India. I'm a Junior in high school. I'm a very, very preppy girl & ppl may find it ironic that I want to attend an HBCU. lol. But, I'm a very cool girl who is easy to get along with. I'm smart, but yet a slacker at the same time. & I'm VERY ambitious. I know what I generally want & I'm out here hustling to get it. I am almost done with my Pharmacy Technician course. It's three credits towards graduation. & It's also a dual enrollment program meaning that I receive college credits. I have taken my State Pharmacy Technician exam & I am now a licensed Pharmacist Technician in the state of Virginia. I am in many, many clubs this year including Key Club, Photography Club, SCA Vice President of Activities, History Club, Uzuri, SODA Club, & Who's Who Amongst American High School Students. My year to date GPA is 3.0. But, unfortunatly, I have a cumulative GPA of 2.4& I've taken the SAT only once & have a score of 920 for the math & english section. I plan to take a SAT Workshop course & retake my SAT. I want to become a BISON!! Howard is THE school for me. It's the only HBCU that I am considering. I want to apply Early Action this fall for the acceptance in '09. So, that is ony 6 months away. It'll be here before I know it. Do you think that I will be admitted? Btw, I want to major in nursing.

Welcome India! Im going to Howard this year and Im gonna be a nursing major also. You may want to try and rasie your GPA a bit and aim for 1000 in reading and math on the SAT. But other than that I think you will get in! Good Luck.

Congratulations! I'm desperatly trying. I at least want a 2.8 by the end of the year. I dream of a 3.0, but my counseler said even if I maintained a 4.0 this year, I would not reach a 3.0. & Yes, I am aiming for at least 1000. I chatted with admissions & they told me 1000 is required for the nursing program. I also emailed admissions a letter explaining my interest in the university & why my gpa is lower than average. I really want to attend Howard. & nursing is my passion. I want to specialize in Labor & Delivery.

Welcome to the forums girl! I'll be up at Howard this fall and I think you made a great choice as far as HBCU's go. Like Licia said, I'd aim high on that SAT so you can get that score as high as possible. I actually took the ACT as well and ended up doing better on that than the SAT so try it out and see which fits you better. Once again, welcome to the forums and good luck with the rest of high school

Good luck to you! & thank you. I really hope I end up at Howard. It's only a few hours away from home. & it's an amazing school. I'm eager to open up the mail & HOPEFULLY see that I am accepted. lol. Do you think Early Action is beneficial for me, with my low GPA & all.

I think that EA will most definitely benefit you I'd try to finish up this semester strong so once application time rolls around, you'll have a solid GPA to go along with your other achievements.
