Yo! MTV Raps 20th Anniversary Posted on 04-08-2008
C Nels

For the month of April, MTV is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Yo! MTV Raps! In my opinion, it is a very influential show, even though it's no longer on the air. I made sure that I was in front of the television when the first show came on with RUN DMC in '88 and I was upset when it went off the air in '95. Rap City provided a decent replacement but it couldn't beat the original. I'm glad that they've brought back clips and videos from that period of time, it had a lot of great rap music! Check the link for clips, videos, highlights and tv programming. Yo! MTV Raps 20th Anniversary | MTV

I watched the countdown last weekend. It was an excellent show and countdown. I will definitely tune in this weekend!

Aaaahhh... I remember those days. The show that singlehandedly turned white people on to rap music. If you were a REAL fan, however, you'd have the single that Dre and Ed Lova put out waaaaaaaay back when...
