Hi....I'm DeV.
I joined HBCUConnect because I've been accepted to an HBCU && am very very seriously considering attending Spelman College in the fall. I've also been accepted to University of Miami, Tulane University, University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill, Christopher Newport University && Florida State University.
This weekend, I visited FSU, UM and Spelman. I fell in love with Spelman's sense of sisterhood and their prestige, but as of yet I have not been offered a scholarship. My mother wants me to attend UM because they offered me a full ride. Spelman is where my heart is, but UM is where the money is.
I am interested in hearing different perspectives on student life at HBCU's because I attend a predominantly white school in Virginia and that is basically the environment I am accustomed to. The idea of attending an HBCU excites me if only because it is something different than what is normal to me.
I have a 3.9 GPA and I scored a 2010 on my SAT... i'm in NHS and yadda yadda yadda.. basically any other club that you could think of.
I'm soooooooooo ready to graduate; i was actually ready my junior year. =)
I'm open to any and everybody so hit me up........!
DeV
You have an impressive list of schools. If you are awarded a scholarship, I recommend attending Spelman. Also, Atlanta is a great city that’s full of professional opportunities. Therefore, you can go to school as well as gain work experience in your field. Good Luck!
