Studying Abroad Any Advice? Posted on 05-14-2008

Hey I figured it would be easiest to ask the hbcu community what to expect when studying in a foreign land. Especially after you spent two or three years studying at a predominately black institution to go to a part of the world where black people are few and far in between. If anyone has studied at an institution abroad could you please post with advice for culture shock and also your experience?

I have heard that many foreign countries are very welcoming to African Americans. I recommend learning as much as possible about their culture before getting there. Knowing as much as possible about the country before you leave will help lower the culture shock once you arrive in the host country. To learn more about your host country, please use the link below. I hope it helps. Good Luck! Countries
