Programs help with tuition in exchange for public service By G. Jeffrey MacDonald, Special for USA TODAY Tufts University junior Dean Ladin expected to owe as much as $40,000 in student loans upon graduation and assumed he'd need to postpone for years his dream of working in youth services. But now he's planning to apply for a low-paying teaching job in a high-need setting. By doing so, he will become eligible for a program, launched earlier this year, to help Tufts graduates pay down their debts if they go to work in a public service field...
