Nader Urges Kerry to Pick Edwards for VP

WASHINGTON - Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) is getting some advice on his choice for vice president from an unlikely source: rival Ralph Nader (news - web sites).
In an open letter sent Wednesday, the independent presidential candidate urged Kerry to choose John Edwards (news - web sites) as his running mate, saying the North Carolina senator and former trial lawyer has been thoroughly vetted and is committed to protecting the right of consumers to **** corporations that harm them.
"(Edwards) has already gone through a primary campaign and has his rhythm and oratory (the two Americas speech) all well-honed," Nader wrote to Kerry. "After a slow start, Sen. Edwards closed fast and has won praise from the media."
Edwards, the last Democrat to bow out after Kerry's series of primary wins, won several large verdicts before he was elected to the Senate. Nader said Edwards is committed to preserving a civil justice system that is under attack by "corporate supremacists."
And while Kerry may decide to take the advice, Nader spokesman Kevin Zeese said there is no quid pro quo.
"It doesn't mean Nader is going to drop out," Zeese said.
On Tuesday, Nader had a testy meeting with members of the Congressional Black Caucus (news - web sites) in which he rejected their pleas for him to quit the race. A day earlier, Nader announced that he had selected Peter Camejo (news - web sites), a longtime Green Party activist, as his running mate.
The Kerry campaign declined to comment on Nader's vice presidential suggestion.

I think PoetiqRayne and I are the only ones here on HBCU who actually care (or have some sort of knowlegable opinion) about politics...we'll probably be the only one's here who vote, too...
Nah, I'd vote if of age, and Nader needs to get alife. I wonder at times whose side he's really on.
After the last election and how folks voted for Nader even though he had as much chance of winning as an ice cube in hell not melting...he should stop with this childish ish and get a life...he's too damned old for playing around and knows it.
I'm working voter registration beginning in a few weeks in the hoods of Houston. We plan to rent some buses to help get black folks to the polls.
Our parents and grand parents fought to damned hard for the right to vote and so many folks take voting for granted.
