i'm going to johnson c. smith university and tuition there is $20,000. i did my fafsa and i had a pell grant and they took it back ! they also didnt give me work study. they say that my parents make to much money but my father who makes the most money in the house hasnt been working for almost 2years now. it seems like you have to be dirt poor to get good financial aid. i'm not poor but i'm not rich either. i'm well off but i'm still in financial need. doesnt something seem wrong with that?

I'm gonna tell you...the government says that they want to help you so much with getting money for college and all that, but they will seriously be the first ones to screw you over. My parents lose money every year because they file separately, and my mother claims no taxes on me, and yet they told me that I had to put both of my parents' info on there! Needless to say I wasn't eligible for much of anything. Next year, screw that, I'm just putting my dad on there because he's the only one who claims me. The ones who the FAFSA hits hardest are the ones whose kids can't necessarily afford to go to college...I mean, just because I get fed every night doesn't mean my parents have $20,000 to fork over every year...do you really have to be starving to get money for college? Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is: I FEEL YOU!

True that.. if my mom quit her job and just sat at home, she would have an easier time sending me to school. Is that f'd up or what?

I was personally SCREWED by FAFSA. ****i see no point in filling it out if i aint gettin shyt. Supposedly my mom and dad make too much money...when my mom only works about 3 days out the week, my dad is in the military, my brother is graduating this upcoming year (another kid in college), and my parents have two younger children (ages 10 & 5) to take care of also on top of that. FAFSA gave me a $2,000 LOAN for both semesters last school year-now what the hell am i supposed to do with that? :? I got no grants, no work study-nothing. So basically im in debt over my head right now because the gov thinks that my parents can easily give VCU $12,000+ every year.Yes something needs to be done about FAFSA, because its not doing very much to help EVERY one. :x
