WHILE WE ON THIS AFRICAN TIP.... Posted on 06-25-2004

Well, I hate when people say negative influences. Cause the decision to be influenced is on the individual (unless they real young and no no better). Ain't nothing no one can influence me to say or do, I am my own man....that is just my opinion on influences

I don't have nothing intellectual to say....just another one of my stories. My god sister visited South Africa about 3 years ago to help build a school over there. This little boy approached one of the male missionaries and started feeling his pockets. When asked what he was doing...the little boy asked..."Where's your gun?" Now that's some type of influence that didn't just come from anywhere.

I think that there is a lot of ignorance and naivete on the part of a lot of people in AFRICA, BUT don't get me wrong.. we as a society being viewed as THE world power are primarily resposible.. we can say that its not our faults, but I do think that we help to perpetuate this stereotype... HOWEVER.. this only applies to the AFRICANS who are that influenced by America.. People in the village aren't sullied by the nature of American cuture, so they remain content in what they have.... Another thing to remember is that this goes on in a lot of other continents other than just Africa... People watch American movies and all they can grasp of America (w/ being able to go there) is the stuff that the media sends out... We might be able to tell the difference between a movie clowning on something, but they might think it is for real... F*CK the media... LOL.. j/k **had to put my 2 cents in**

We Americans are being regarded by foreigners as foolish. To some extent, I can't blame them. Black Americans are per capita the richest Black people in the world, but also the most wasteful. This, because most are not raised with good business sense, so that $15,000 piece of jewelry looks pretty good. Our educational system is abysmal. We spend the most on education per-student and receive the least. Many schools are nothing more than glorified babysitting centres, because the schools are forced to accept students who refuse to learn and teachers who refuse to teach. Some schools are right on par with Third World nations - these are the only other places where students feel obligated to carry weapons to defend themselves in school. And beyond this, it seems like everyone wants to talk a good game while taking no action whatsoever. So we have conferences, seminars, lectures, fundraisers, and galas; all of which make the sole improvement of helping the organizers of these events feel better about themselves. I'm sure all of you have heard of those "take back our streets" movements where urban residents are so sick of crime and decay that they resolve to do whatever it takes to make a change, because they just can't live like this anymore. I say forget take back the streets. It's time to take back America. For too long we've watched our society be commandeered by those who are promoting things to destroy our civilization. It is time to take back America from those who say that crime is OK, and that **** is the way to prove your manhood. Take it back from those who say it's good to wait for the government to solve our problems. Take it back from those who say deteriorating families are just the sign of the times, and that fathers acting irresponsibly is just a reflection of modern society. We need to say enough is enough. There was a point in time where if a child wasn't being educated in school, his parents would take him home and do it themselves. And they'd do it for the neighbor's kids too. I will not ignore the young man in need of guidance who will without that intervention grow up to be the guy who steals my 2012 BMW. For too long, the power of capitalism has been used against us. It's time to take it back, and use that amazing power to our benefit, by truly educating people on how to survive and provide for themselves. It's time to take back our values, so that entrepreneur is the most honored title a man or woman can hold (as it is in foreign countries). I am sick and tired of people lecturing me on how failure is our natural state and dishonor is acceptable in these "new times". It's time to take back our minds. We need to educate ourselves and do our own research and soul-searching so when someone comes to us with one of those lame arguments, we can look them **** in the eye and say "NO, it is not" and explain exactly why. Must we wait until the situation is so bad that the fabric of our nation can no longer hold? At this rate, in the future there will be a permanent elite class and a permanent underclass with no hope for the future. The only question is where do we fit in. Do we start to take the education and business skills that will earn us a place above the water line, or be left to sink or swim? I'm sure this is ranting but I feel strongly about it. Right now, there are excuse-peddlers across the nation feeding us this pablum that the way things are is the way they reasonably should be, and it's not true. It's time to take back America. Holla!

exactly, i didn't say all Africans, as in this big pan-African thinking with no regard for individual countries. But black american materialism is made manifest in many african countries, especially in the more metropolitan, modern developed countries such as Kenya. The fact is, many developed areas still have many poor inhabiting them, and they look up to Black Americans as achievers of THE standard of living, forgetting that the American way of economy and community living is diametrical to african valuesof living(village raise the child, etc.) The villiages who don't depend on Western contact, i believe, are better off in some respects that someone who attends PS# 250, tho the american student may have better tennis shoes

no...entertainers should be held responsible!! Scenario: Jay-Z throws up the roc sign in a video , the next day I walk into the club and everyone is throwing up the roc sign... Next week Jay-Z wears a NY fitted cap with a dress shirt in a video, the next day I stroll into a club and I see clones everywhere.... A few days later Jay-Z decides to go to college and get his degree....A YEAR LATER I WALK INTO THE CLUB BUT NO ONE IS THERE, BUT WHEN I GO TO WALL STREET IT LOOKS LIKE THE MILLION MAN MARCH STOPPED BY
